Unpaid postage

Hi all

Seller didn’t pay enough postage, put a normal stamp on it and I got a Royal Mail card asking for £3.50. I messaged seller who said if I went and collated the parcel and paid the £3.50 she would refund it to me but she hasn’t. She’s been awkward since and last week she said it was “in the post” which obviously wasn’t.
she’s now ignoring me and I wondered if there was anything I could do. It’s not the money, I just want her to take responsibility. As a seller as well as a buyer I always check to make sure I’ve paid correct postage, it’s not difficult.
so for a £5 item I’ve ended up paying over £7 because she tried to con Royal Mail.
Any advise would be great

Unpaid postage

If you want the item, pay the postage and try to get some sort of refund from the seller.  If you don't want the item, it will be returned to the seller with postage due.

You can leave appropriate feedback on either scenario.

I would ask on the UK board...........this is US.........and there may be better advice considering the differing postal systems......

Here in the US the USPS is now just billing a adjustment or credit through ebay if the postage is incorrect.

I accidently put a padded flat rate label on a regional A, no big deal I just got billed a couple dollars.

This is a very nice feature that saves everyone a lot of grief over small mistakes

Hi @rg0368_avedc1jvuc

As long as tracking info shows that it arrived ‘postage due’  … you should be okay.

The best response would have been to ask the shipping company to hold on to the package while you contact the seller about the missing postage.  You would remind the seller that they would still have to pay the postage if the package returned to them … which usually leads to them sending the money.  Once you have the postage due in hand … you either pick up the package or have it redelivered.
