Unpaid item case and 1 month to pay?

"This unpaid item case is now open
This case will automatically close if the buyer pays. Otherwise, please come back between Aug 18, 2020 and Sep 17, 2020 to close it and receive a final value fee credit. You can also turn on the Unpaid Item Assistant, and next time this will all be taken care of for you."

Really? One can open an unpaid item case after 2 days, but they get another MONTH to pay? Having never NOT paid for something I bought here, I don't know if the non-paying buyer gets a message that they have another month to pay.
I accepted an offer for a whole $6.50. Then heard nothing. Sent my usual -the item is packed and ready to ship- message. They replied OK, thanks. Another day and nothing. Sent an invoice saying if there's a delay, no problem just let me know. I gave them another day. No response. So Unpaid Item Case opened. (Tried for 2 days to use "Resolve a problem " on the sold listing. ebay kept asking for password to continue, then didn't continue just in a loop asking for password, GLITCH. Had to circumvent getting to open a case.)  Then I finally get the UI open and get that message (copied and pasted) you see ^^ up there.
If they don't pay I WILL be getting my 65¢ back.

You can close the case in 4 days and receive your credit or you can choose to give them more time to pay. What's the problem?

Re: Unpaid item case and 1 month to pay?

I think this is the first UI case I've opened. If I've done another it was a long time ago (guess I've been lucky?). It doesn't say the after 4 days thing. But now I see what it's saying. Thank you.

Re: Unpaid item case and 1 month to pay?

You close it on August 18. The extension for another month is for you, not the buyer. They got an email from eBay telling them to pay quickly or a strike will come soon!  That warning of last day to close the case is just for you. If you go a day past it, your chance to get your fees back will vanish.

Re: Unpaid item case and 1 month to pay?

Update. They responded to the UI case with a message.

"Having problems with my card. Working on it so that I can pay you ASAP.Sorry for the inconvenience."

That was on Saturday. If, in fact, they are having a problem (sounds fishy to me) ...today being Monday, things should be fixed and they should pay. Right?

I can close the case sometime tomorrow.
