Do you think this is a good thing or not?
Ebay needs to get its Pay Immediately upon offer being accepted or highest bid straight. It would be better if when the bid is won, Ebay went ahead and charged the buyer's account!!! Why should we wait for payment and then have to chase the buyer for payment. Get it together Ebay? Other platforms are passing you.

Sounds to me like you are creating the problem and asking ebay to fix it.
Stop using best offer. Set the price you want with immediate payment and be done with it. What could be simpler?

It is more complicated than that. If it were that easy, ebay would already have done it. ebay doesn't like non paying buyers any more than you or I do. The new cancel order policy was announce as a stop gap measure....it is not a permanent fix. ebay IS working on setting up Immediate Payment for auctions/offers. It might not come until ebay has everyone moved onto Managed Payments, but it IS in the works.

It's about darn time!
I'm quite happy to read that..
I hope they follow through- so many other sites have it set up so that auction winners and accepted offers get billed to a payment source that's entered prior to the bid/offer.
I would really like to see something similar here..
Thank you for that info.

Indeed, if this happens I have a feeling there will be a TON of disappointed jerks sport bidders.
However I'd like them to go a step further and really tighten the screws on creating a buying account. Make it so it's not easy to just go create another one with the same information. Or so that if someone DOES try to create another one with the same info, they will be issued the same strikes or whatever penalties their first account had so they cannot circumvent the UPI disputes against them.
Can you imagine the buying boards blowing up after this is implemented? People will be so upset! "I bid on an auction and won and ebay charged me! No fair!" 🙄

OP is talking about both.

I know right..
It would be a sight to behold..
Might be the right time to take a week vaca from the boards. LOL

Wow, it will look like the seller's board! However there is a problem with that. Most buyers are not going to give Ebay carte blanc to charge their credit/debit/bank account. It will probably be the end of auctions on Ebay, but there are other auctions that don't require a bidder to give access to their funding sources.

You might be right but there are a few sites I shop on that require a payment source prior to being able to make an offer. You can designate PP or a credit card but you offer with the understanding that if accepted your source will be charged.
Auctions should work the same way and many auction sites do- in fact, there's a large estate auction site on which I shop that if you don't pay- you never get to bid there again.
Bidding isn't a game- it's business and the "buyers" at eBay have made it a sport for far too long..
/just sayin'

I love the way poshmark has their system set up. EBay needs to follow their payment set up

Then there will be a few people willing to do Ebay auctions then. I won't allow any company to have charge rights on my credit or debit cards. I do it myself so I know exactly what is happening. I remember how angry sellers were when they were required to allow Ebay access to their accounts. I am on the seller's side there. I buy on other auction sites and hold complete control over my payments.

It makes a BIG difference and there is a lot less messing around.
Now...the offers system... 😣

So when you bid or make an offer do you not intend to pay if you win? Or the offer is accepted?
Each time you bid or offer YOU get to designate the payment source, that shouldn't be an issue if you are planning on following through with the bid/offer.
I shop on an estate auction site and a payment source must be entered there prior to bidding. They have a huge amount of traffic.
You are still in control of your cards & money. This set up just prevents sport bidding by those not intending to pay and offers being accepted that a buyer never intends to finalize.
