Unfair refund

I have just lost money, when eBay refunded the cost of an item i sold. The purchaser was sent proof of postage and openly admits that she believes I posted it, but she no longer wants it. She said that it has never arrived and that because it arrived after ebays estimated date, she doesn't want it. I asked the buyer for a statement saying that it never arrived, she ignored me. I also contacted the buyer the day before it was posted to tell her there was a delay. This was on the 22nd Nov. She never replied  and yet she says she needed it by the 20th. Last thing I heard was this eBay have told the lady to close the dispute and now this. The decision was made without any opportunity for me to present my evidence.  Something is defiantly not right with this situation.

So I am now out of pocket and don't have the item. I am currently out of the U.K so I can't phone and there is no other way of contacting them.

Thanks eBay for refunding this lady even though she had proof of purchase. Where was my rights? Are eBay going to refund me the fees they charged.

Also I would love to know why I am being charged fees on my postage?

i don't think I will be selling anymore stuff after this.

Anyone can say the didn't recieve and item and be refunded. The seller will always loose out.

Although the cost was only £3.95 it is the principal.

I have no confidence in eBay to be fair.

Re: Unfair refund

Unelss you have tracking showing DELIVERY, you have no evidence.  Proof of sending means nothing at all.

Re: Unfair refund

It is all to clear to me why as a buyer I can't seem to find items I am looking for and that is because there are not as many sellers.

Seems to me sellers have got to be gamblers to sell, it is a shake of the dice if you sell not knowing if a buyer will not want the item and get refunded.

What a shame, loss of sellers means loss of products being offered which means less buying traffic and less business for ebay.

Buyers are taking advantage of the sellers with no risk to the buyer and only problems for the sellers, with time spent, funds charged for selling, its looking more of a dim future for ebay unless it changes.

Re: Unfair refund

I agree that the future seems dim for ebay; however, on the contrary, there is no lack of sellers. It's just that ebay finds it cheaper and easier to passively countenance fraudulent "buyers".

I'm sorry this happened to you, but you mention a delay in posting the item, that you contacted the buyer on the 22nd about a delay.

So it seemed that you sent the item late and did not honor your handling time by getting the package out in that time.

So sorry but buyer is allowed to cancel if shipping was not timely and the item arrived later than expected and she no longer needs or wants it.  You have a contradiction there, you say she said it never arrived, then that it arrived after the estimated delivery timeframe.  So she can't send you a statement that it never arrived if it arrived late.

IF you decide to sell anymore, you need tracking that provided proof of delivery, and you might want to extend your handling time so that you can ship the item within that time.  Even if you had proof of delivery, if the item was late, the buyer can request to cancel because it was not received timely.

There have been FVF on shipping for quite some time now.

If you send your item with tracking that shows delivery, everyone cannot make a claim they did not receive it.

Sorry again, OP.

You posted the item late and cannot prove delivery.

How would you, as a buyer, like to be told by eBay "we have to be fair to the seller", when you know you have recourse of getting your payment back from PayPal?

There is no option for you to present any evidence other than tracking showing delivery.

You also got a "case closed without seller resolution" when the buyer "asked ebay to step in and help" because you failed to upload tracking or issue a refund.

Sorry but nothing is definitely wrong.  You have to have tracking that shows delivery, and you need to ship in the handling time that you chose.

If you had tracking that showed delivery, you would have won.  You don't have any evidence to present that would have changed this, sadly.

Perhaps having tracking with delivery confirmation and shipping without a delay would have avoided this whole situation.

Sorry, OP.
