Uneasy feeling, or anything I should worry about

Greetings, My apologies if I chose the wrong board,

Recently I sold a camera, the high bidder has yet to pay, by ebay rules they still have 24 hrs, but I recieved this message from buyer "

Hello!“Thanks for deal. I hope, the item is in good condition. Sorry for bothering, but there is one problem about shipping.I’m going out of town for a few weeks. I’ll be on a new address. I don't want to cancel the order and Can you forward an item to my new address?

in which I replied, I will ship Continental US only and only upon payment received,
to which they replied with a yeah ok, and a photo of an envelope with the address in which they want it shipped , I am just a bit Leary about this, has anyone else experienced anything like this, a sketchy photo of an envelope address in Delaware

LOL, wow my person gave me a Delaware address as well, and upon googling it you find it to be a well known address among the ebay community

Did they ever pay you? Seems like they may have scammed someone's paypal account and actually paid me.

I wonder if I can get a refund of the shipping label...

Haha, I just realized that the email I received is from a different account than the one that one paid for the auction...

Have you checked to see if the message is from the buyer.

Scammers will send a message claiming to be the buyer hoping you will send it to a different address.

Have a great day.

Yeah it seems to be 2 different things, I am avoiding replies with them, I figure its better that way, he can google the address they sent a photo copy of and see its fraudulent -, so I would rather avoid anymore contact, but yes again, I receive messages from to different user names

The answer to my own question is yes, in this case you can get a refund for the shipping label. You'll need to be routed to the shipping department, but they can void the label and get you a refund.

Did you contact the buyer before you canceled.

The buyer was probably OK, it was the scammer that sent the message you had to worry about.

@xl00

Are you sure it has been 'paid' and it was a real payment?

Did you get an email saying that the money would be released AFTER you prove shipping by uploading tracking?  If you did, you haven't been, in all probability.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

Did you ever determine if the message was from your buyer?

Yes, Ebay showed payment. I also logged into Paypal and confirmed the transaction. But my guess is most likely it's a legit user that's been hacked.

In my case, the followup email with request to change address was from a different account ( that had 0 feedback) than the auction winner account (longer history and positive feedback).

I think in your case you've now cancelled a legitimate purchase. No wonder the actual buyer was upset. It's not their fault some scammer tried to get you to send it to them instead.

***JUST TAGGING***

So now there are two separate transactions from two separate members being discussed in this thread: the OP (sacred_ground) and a second member (x100). The two transactions appear to be different from each other, and posters appear to be mixing up the two members/transactions in their replies.

IMO, it's always a good idea to start a new thread rather than "hijack" (for lack of a better description) another member's thread so everyone's on the same page.

While it could be the same buyer from a different account of their own, personally, I think cancelling the sale due to 'problem with address' would be a proper route to take.

Re: Uneasy feeling, or anything I should worry about

Why do you think their account was hacked?  It seems more likely that your buyer purchased and paid for their item and is waiting for you to send it to the address they used at checkout.

Then someone who had nothing to do with the transaction saw that your item sold, pretended that they were the buyer and tried to con you to send the item to a different address.  I would  contact the original buyer to confirm that they want it sent to the checkout address.
