I was just seriously threatened by a buyer of a set of 2 puzzle books $8.35 including free first class shipping because ........ wait for it ......... the Post Office did not deliver it when eBay said they would. (Today).
That dang eBay has got to stop promising things it can't deliver.
Oh, what's that you say? eBay gave her an ESTIMATED delivery date? Shame on that eBay, such a kidder when it comes to estimating, making promises and insinuating guarantees of any type. Such fun riling up the buyers who do not understand the meaning of the word estimated. Or figured out how to manipulate the system and will try anything to their item for free.
Ahhh, you got to the appreciate the cheerfulness and good will the holiday season brings.
Quite honestly I feel so, so sorry for all USPS, UPS, FedEx and other delivery and processing personnel under extreme stress and deadlines to move mountains of packages. l was 18th in line at my local PO this afternoon with just one totally stressed out clerk trying her best amid complaints and ugly looks. Branch manager peeked out of his office twice but didn't lift a finger to help.
Lighten up people. Unless it's medicine you're out of, it's highly unlikely the world will stop if your package arrives a day or two later than you would like. And if waiting on a long line upsets you so much, ship your packages earlier next year.
Pass the Rum Punch, it's been a frazzling kind of day.

I help alleviate the stressed out workers by not going to the Post office to stand in line, it also eases traffic.
Which, I can do whole thread on just that, all by myself.

Before Christmas.
I am not clear on USPS rules and standards (I use Canada Post) but I drop most of my packages and all of my envelopes into the red mailbox outside the post office or postal outlet(sub-contractor inside a shop) if they have shipping labels or are not being tracked (tracking here starts at $10 for same province delivery).
So I only have to go inside for the few I am tracking and paid with stamps rather than a label.
As I understand it, what the PO gives you is an acceptance scan on the spot, rather than at the terminal a few hours later?
It is the same scan I get by dropping them in my mailbox at the end of my driveway, it's "accepted."
The hub / terminal scan comes later, maybe.
But I admire you for at least not contributing to making the line longer.
I love this covid, I do well in it but I am concerned the world will come to a screeching halt soon.
Then again the world didn't end with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
I thought that would be the end of us for sure.

I usually ship several filled mail tubs Mon-Sat. I use eBay shipping labels and always print a Scan Form for the post office. Most people are amazed how fast that one piece of paper gets me out the door.
Monday I hauled in five overflowing mail tubs piled into a big post office cart. I had 3 Scan Forms for the lot. I got some bad looks and heard some complaints from the folks behind me. When I reached the clerk I turned and waved my forms towards the line and said "I promise I'll be fast." My forms were scanned in less than ten seconds, I waved as I headed to the door and received a round of applause as I left.

On the top of ebay's estimated (and some times GUARANTEED) delivery date on a USPS First class and priority, buyers click on item not received and the money is out of account and is on hold. We are bleeding money out. It's not even legal in US to put money in escrow and not pay back interest. Why does ebay thinks, they have right to do it. Ebay's managed payments are a total rip off. We are going to get out of it and go back to good old paypal payment.

I normally ship all of my packages via Priority Mail, but had some very small, lightweight items (non-clothing) that I shipped 1st Class and I have at least two packages that shipped on 12/7 with ebay giving the buyers an estimated arrival date of 12/11 and those items have still not been delivered. When I click on the tracking link they both show stalled in Maryland. They were stalled in my own metroplex for over a week, but how now been sitting at that same facility in Maryland, (with Maryland delivery addresses), since the for 11 days now. Oh, and the page that pops up when you click on the tracking number that shows all of the details and dates, still shows an estimated arrival date of 12/11.......
I have NEVER had 1st Class small packages take 3 weeks and counting to arrive. I don't know how long ebay will give me before they just force the refund. One of the buyers has already opened up an INR case, for which I provided the tracking number and communicated with the buyer, but ebay still automatically froze those funds from my pending payments and I don't know how long they are going to give before they just go ahead and release those funds back to the buyer....and then they will receive the item the next day and I'm out product and payment.
Thanks USPS!

Unbelievable is a good half of those people waiting in line could've took care of their issues without ever leaving home... I ship over a thousand packages a year, I might show up at the Post office 2-3 times but I most certainly do not wait in line... I dread even going there, just thinking of the people who need the clerk's "help" for what petty reasons I can only imagine.
I could see it if it was the once or twice a year people who don't have a fancy set up like I do, but most of these line waiters are regulars. They're there every dang day, same old nonsense.
These people are not helping.
