Unauthorized Return to me

I sold some sneakers through eBay authenticity guarantee ($2500). Funds have already been released to me weeks ago. Buyer opened claim saying item was not as described. eBay backed me up and closes the case in my favor because it went through authenticity guarantee. Buyer then opened a dispute and eBay AGAIN went in my favor. Now the buyer went and open a case with the financial institution (still in progress). He sent me a screenshot yesterday of his PayPal resolution center saying that eBay has agreed to give him a refund of the $2500 as long as he ships the shoes back. So without me knowing or the case even being closed, PayPal gave him my address, he shipped the shoes back (did not go through authenticity guarantee when shipped back to me) and now PayPal is trying to force a refund out of MY pocket for the $2500. What is going on?!?! Someone please explain . I will go to court if I have to. This is absolutely ridiculous that PayPal would even give my address and tell him to simply return the item, force the money out of my account when there is an ONGOING case between eBay and his or her financial institution. Someone please help.

Re: Unauthorized Return to me

Then the entire program is a farce. One could argue “how does the seller know what eBay authentication did with the sneakers he sent, furthermore, the seller doesn’t know 100% what was sent to the buyer”. Once eBay took control of the sneakers, it’s no longer a transaction between the seller and the buyer but between eBay and the buyer. I’m quite familiar with how chargebacks work in traditional retail environments and am finding that eBay’s defense is lacking fundamentals.

Re: Unauthorized Return to me

I agree   it has fallen short  , It is odd ebay did not provide  the authentication  documents to disprove the SNad   fake  claim  to paypal? It would have  help OP to keep 20%  of  buyers money  from the refund .    I would not be surprised  if the buyers wife  got upset  over  spending $2,500.

I can't see anyone paying $2500 for a pair of sneakers.

Have a great day.

Re: Unauthorized Return to me

Dolcet:    I have said  for years   going  back   to 2007-08   when JD took over as Ceo  push  returns    policy   ,   but not following   operate  real world  retail  returns  under   state & federal   Merchant  and buyer protection  policy 's .  And since  most ebay sellers where second  market  sellers   that  have right to offer  limited refunds  or no returns.  There is no laws on the books that give  buyers the right  to full refunds  . Unless they claim snad   , In both  state  & federal  merchant  and buyer  right's. In snad case the buyer must  show and get proof  that the seller  knew it was fake  vs  buying clothing  buyer bought small size  or   seller  goofed and sent the wrong item .  Ebay has fallen short  on  fighting  snad  case's buyers claim item was fake with out proof , or deal with  return abuse issues  by buyers that don't want to pay return cost.
