I have been unable to list any item with ESE as the shipping option for close to a month. When I choose ESE, the app and website both revert back to First Class. I have reached out to eBay multiple times and they have given me generic responses and told me to post in a forum. Still no resolution and it is costing me sales of all my lower end items. Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks for the reply! I have actually been selling sports cards for about 6 months and sold hundreds of them using ESE. One day earlier this month, I posted roughly 10 cards with ESE and when I got to the 11th card and beyond, I was unable to choose ESE. All of the requirements are met, but the app and website will show ESE, then revert to First Class when posted. It wouldn’t be a big deal, but no one is going to buy a $2 card with $5-$6 shipping. I’ve tried revising the listings afterwards, and I get the same result. I’m not sure what to do, as all of the shipping details are the same as the ones I have successfully listed and sold in the past

There must be some glitch in eBay's programming. While you're waiting for them to discover and fix it, one workaround would be to use a flat price for shipping, rather than calculated. Then you can enter a flat postage cost of 81 cents or whatever other postage is appropriate.

Hmm, that is strange.
The only thing I can think of is, go in and double check to make sure they are 3 oz or less.
Otherwise, must be your time for a glitch.

I’ve toyed around with it, going from 1oz to 3oz, changing envelope size, and doing flat rate shipping. Everything reverts to first class at first class price. It’s very odd. eBay had me delete my app and reinstall and also try on different browsers. Unfortunately no fix yet

That’s a great idea. I tried it just now, but even the flat price shipping also reverted to first class at first class price. I guess I am glitched at the moment. I’ve been able to sell with first class for items above $20 and media mail for some movies recently, just can’t do anything other than those.

Create a shipping rule / business policy that is standard envelope, attach that rule to every listing you make of cards. The system does not even double check that the category is eligible when you do this, so there should be no reason for it to kick it back out.
This could also be a phone thing if you are trying to ebay from your phone then try using a computer.
The standard envelope is only actually gatekept by category and price, the ebay robots and system don't care about what the actual items are or the weight entered when making the listing, so description of what is eligible is 100 percent meaningless. If your item is in the wrong category or price range then it won't let you make the envelope, if it is then it will.

Wow, that's a new type of glitch. I have never heard of a flat shipping cost entered on the listing setup form, showing up as a different amount in the listing.

I will give the shipping rule/business policy a try! I’ve never had this problem before and have shipped at least 200 cards this way. Just seems strange that I listed one card that way, then moments later listed another and the problem started from there on. Not sure what changed. Thank you!

Very strange, I’ll update if I find a solution! Thank you!

Are you sure it's the correct category? Did you try signing in and then signing out?

I’ve done both! Deleted the app, signed in and out, reinstalled the app, tried chrome, Firefox, and safari from my laptop. I’m not sure what else to do. The category is the same as the one I’ve sold plenty from. Seems like a glitch somehow

Try listing a "Similar" item that you have processed successfully, changing the relevant details but leaving the shipping method the same.

If you are using a flat rate, that dollar value should stay the same. Try this. Under cost type change from calculated shipping to flat rate shipping. When choosing the service use the generic economy shipping (1-10 business days) and then enter the amount that you want to charge.
Quite a few of your listings do show standard envelope. When you go into one of those listings as if you were going to revise it, what are the dimensions and weight on that listing? Are you using the exact same dimensions on the listings that are not working with standard envelope?
