How should I proceed? Is there any way I can obtain a copy of the signature from USPS even though they failed to scan the item in at the time of delivery?
-$350 uninsured package
-Sent USPS priority mail w/signature confirmation
-Day 8 of "Awaiting delivery scan" status following out for delivery
The buyer is now questioning whether or not the item has been delivered, since he/she sees it's not shown as delivered and can now keep the item while pretending not to have gotten it.
Do I have any recourse through eBay or USPS? Please let me know how I should proceed any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your issue is with usps and you need to contact them.Ebay has no control over delivery scans
May be buyer was not home to sign and carrier took back to post office w plans to redeliver or buyer come in to pick up and did not update scan.
Ask your buyer to check w carrier and local po(they don't have to comply and are due a full refund if it is not resolved)
This is a user to user board not eBay employees.

When I first started selling on Ebay and shipping with USPS was to sign up at usps.com. It gives a lot of benefits to have an account with the post office. First and foremost is the ability to contact them via email to search for packages. Second is the little known informed delivery where you have the ability to see your arriving packages and the images of your mail. Now after signing up click on support in upper left hand corner, then contact us click on find out how, email and click on send email. You are in inquiry information next there is a drop down menu at "Does your inquiry involve a Tracking Number or Redelivery Confirmation Number?". I put no because I want the old classic inquiry pages I am used to. You can put yes and it will give you the new inquiry pages. Just fill it out and make sure the comment section is in detail of what you want them to do. Use words like "postmaster" to get their attention. The destination post office, if it is a small town, postmaster will call you on your contact phone so please include your cell phone in the inquiry. I have received excellent help from the post offices and saved myself a ton of time if I called them on the phone. Good luck.

So the item said out for delivery 8 days ago and now nothing?
It sounds like the item didn't get delivered because of the sig requirement. It's likely sitting on a shelf at the po waiting for pickup.

USPS is not infallible. It's more likely that the package went back to the PO or is in a truck than the buyer noticed missing tracking and decided to steal it.
I had one before Christmas where the carrier put the package in the wrong mailbox and the people were on vacation. If I had decided my buyer was a scammer I would have had issues. Instead she went to her PO (they wouldn't answer the phone) and they tracked it down.

The FIRST thing you should do is call the buyer's local post office and ask for more info on the package. It may be sitting right there.

Doesn't the package get returned after 3 days if it's not signed for?

Usually these have been delivered, but someone got lazy. If it HAS been delivered the tracking gets updated quickly.

Go to the USPS website, get an account, and then ask for an investigation on where your package is. Or, file an insurance claim since PM gives you what? $50-$100 of free insurance.
You need to move now!
If you haven't paid for your item, you're a winning bidder, not a buyer!

This..........the only "real" info you can get is thru the PO.......... like others I've had very good luck in calling local POS.......they really do try to help
