On June 3rd, I dropped off a pre-paid package at my local USPS. As many, I drop off my packages in the section where you are allowed to drop off pre paid packages; you get to skip those long lines. About 90-95% of the time, USPS on the same day records it into the system that I dropped off the package. However, its been over 10 days and the only tracking information shown is "Tracking number provided". It doesn't state that my package was dropped off at my local USPS, doesn't state it is in transit or nothing.
Estimated delivery was June 9, it should not be taking this long. I know there has to be an issue. I went back this past weekend to my local USPS and I was told they did not hold my package back, and that all packages are sent when they receive them. I was also told to wait another week. I personally will wait of course, I do want to lose money, but I am unsure how long my buyer would be willing to wait.
I did not add insurance protection by the way. It was shipped USPS priority mail. Can I hold USPS accountable for losing my package? Please, any suggestions/advice/tips would be helpful. Thank you eBay community.

Packages have been very delayed and depending where your package is going- like if it has to pass through one of the backed up sorting centers- then it can take a while. If the package is still in transit then a scan should show up when it gets to the final destination post office.
Communicate with your buyer about the delays and assure her that the package is on its way. If she prefers a refund then you'll have to accommodate the request- but you can ask her if she's willing to re-pay (send a PayPal invoice) once the package is finally delivered.
$50 of insurance was included on that Priority Mail label but since there is no acceptance scan in the system you can't collect on a lost package claim.

Has your buyer contacted you?

Have contacted USPS? You can put a trace on it. It's amazing how they can find stuff that way.
