USPS fail = Higher FVF ??

Am I to understand this correctly?  Since the good ol' USA is terrible at containing the spread of the virus AND USPS is much, much slower now, my selling to the US level could drop below standard; therefore, creating higher FVF fees for me?   Sounds perfectly fair.  Some wait 5-6 weeks to receive mail when it used to take about 7-10 business days.  I'm at fault for that?  Nonsense!   That was my say.  🙂   Stay safe.

Our accounts are our responsibility.  USPS shipping was a problem, no doubt. There are actions that the seller can employ to mitigate risk.  We have to control shipping one way or the other or face the ramifications.

Sorry to hear you are being hit with the extra fees.

Thank you for your post.

Looking on boards today about the problem with the Mail.

Big mess at Xmas. Too much time contacting buyers( speaking of time =$$ not common courtesy.)

Yes to customer service. But we do this for the$$ (not for "fun".)  many if not most things late at Xmas,

Then it cleared up but... not.

Item picked up couple weeks ago on our porch. No scan.

I screamed scan sheet because pickup was just scanning one item.

Next multiple items scan sheet no scan.

Appeared first item would be late. "Looked for" package.

Look for closed,  still no scan.

item arrived last day for no defect. Never a scan.

This week, item not picked up.

Two more the next day.

Got word that because of weather that we may not be getting mail delivery (or pickup.) This wasn't official but posted on a neighborhood page.

So, partner drove to post office, stood in covid line & made clerk scan. 45/60 minutes round trip.

three low priced items.

We live in an old urban neighborhood. We had small post offices closed.

The area is a hilly walking route.

If we are not able to get or have Mail pickup, what's the plan for on time metrics?

Just MHO but maybe eBay needs a better "business plan"?

We are doing all we can.

It seems that some others are jumping on the bandwagon that you are driving but I must be missing something.  How would you become below standard because of the shipping time?

As far as I know if you have two many late shipments they may increase your handling time but I don't see anything about becoming below standard.

Also...on your tracked items, if you ship on time you aren't marked as being late. On your non tracked items, you will only be marked as late if the buyer says that you missed the arrival date when they leave feedback.

If you are very high in inr requests because your items are late, ebay can increase the delivery estimate on your listings.  But they don't mention increasing your fees because of it.

Perhaps you or someone could explain how late shipments could lead to below standard because I honestly must be missing it.

btw...Perhaps you missed the announcement that shipments to the US may be delayed because of problems at  one of the Canada Post main international processing centers in Ontario.

Also, one of my packages got stuck at the Vancouver processing center for 2 weeks before it entered the US so we have problems on our side as well.

Simple, just don't ship internationally. I stopped selling internationally last summer.

Wait, what? Not enough Canadian sales?  You want our money? Oh well, 'ya gotta take the bad with the good.

If it's making your account suffer, stop shipping here.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Sorry your having trouble with scanning. Been there, done that. I suggest it is time to start complaining .... to the post office.  Package pickup service is a service offered by the post office, not a favor. The service is advertised as including tracking scan on pick up, scan sheet or not. Rural and small post offices may not like the extra workload, but that is their problem to take to their management.

Use the complaint form on the USPS dot com. The wording is confusing, but take the path to "email us" and "where's my mail" . Email Us | Package Pickup Services (force.com)

Do it every single time the package pick up is skipped or packages aren't scanned.

It will get better.  Good luck.

It probably isn't about late mail.  It is about US buyers not understanding the mail is slow right now & jump on a refund request after 3 weeks because their item hasn't arrived.  Whether it is tracked or not.

Thanks but no increase in FVF fees yet.  Just got a notice it could happen.   Do not understand how we 'control shipping.'  Once you give it to the PO, it is completely out of our hands.  I sent a tracked parcel to NY.  They shipped it to Tampa, FL.  It finally reached it's destination.  How exactly do I control that?

You don't get dinged on your shipping metrics as long as you have a scan within your stated handling time. I had a whole bunch of late packages in December (including one that took a month to go 45 minutes away), and yet I don't have any late shipping dings because I stood in line to make sure everything got scanned.
