USPS Tracking Last Update on 03/06/18 (this is the only problem so far)

It looks like this:

In Transit to Next Facility

Mar-09-18, 00:00 AM

In Transit to Next Facility

Mar-08-18, 00:00 AM

In Transit to Next Facility

Mar-07-18, 00:00 AM

Departed USPS Regional Origin Facility

Mar-06-18, 19:10 PM,

My buyer has said not in receipt of item and wants me to locate it.

A nice lady at the regional distribution center at first scolded me for having her ph. number and that she will be taking that up with her boss.

She then told me that my package was probably given to FEDEX (who would not supply another number to track) and delivered to the destination.

I was told that I can call the destination location number to see if I can get help there. I went to USPS.com>Quick Tools>Find Locations and entered the zip code the package was sent to.

The results are a list of banks and pharmacies with the contact number being 800-ASK-USPS® (800-275-8777. I was on hold with that number for 2 + 1  hours yesterday and never got to speak with a human. My local post office turned me away yesterday citing the same number to call.

I am at a loss as what to do. It seems to me that someone should be addressing this issue for me.

Any advice is welcome.

Google for the phone number of the buyer's Post Office.  You can find it there and bypass the 800 number. Give them a call. Your buyer could do this, too, but since you're the professional...that's all a part of good customer service,

Google  "post office phone number zip code xxxxx"

(why would the package be given to Fedex?? That makes no sense for the lady to say that, unless it was a SmartPost package. Those aren't supposed to be dropped off at a PO, only at a Fedex location)

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

File a lost package report on the USPS website.

You can do an online lost mail inquiry/report.

within 24 hours will will get an automated response that the report was received.

every 30 days after that you will get an automated response that they are searching for it.

the "in transit" event code is an automated code that is shown 3 times, and then stops until there is an actual scan some place.

Media goes by truck. ( should still have had another scan by now)

@mywantmydesire

What was the item that you sent media mail?  There are restrictions on what can be shipped media mail and the package can be opened at any time to verify that the contents comply with the rules.

If it was found, that you shipped a disallowed item media mail, then your package may have been seized.

Media mail can take a long time to be delivered. I suggest that you never use it. Depending upon what shipping service that you posted on the listing, and the latest delivery date provided, your buyer can open an INR case and you will have to provide a full refund if that happens.

It would not be "seized".  It would go on to the addressee as postage due, or would be charged to the sender by the "Postage Verification System" if online payment labeling was used.

Unless it was the Sherman Tank Periscope I think the OP was fine using the Media Mail rate for shipping.

I went through the form to file a lost package report 5 times last night and at the very end, there was always 1 digit wrong in both mailer and reciever's zip codes. The program had a message saying it could not find the addresses and if I wanted to continue with that as the ship to address (that the package , if found and sent, may go to the wrong place.) Of course i did not accept that.

Thanks for the suggestion.

at the end of that form, it  always presented me with a "ship to" (if found) address with one digit of the zip code wrong. Upon editing the zip code, the form always started from scratch. The saved forms had even more errors and empty fields in them.

there are several in that zip code it appears. I will probably be calling them monday. Thanks!

the lady said that if the package could not be shipped via ground (for whatever reason, maybe because of distance??) that it would be loaded onto a FEDEX plane then returned to USPS for delivery.
