Stamp Out Hunger food drive - What We Do - About.usps.com
Tomorrow is the pick up for food donations by the USPS. Probably more need this year than ever. If your Post Office participates they would have given you a post card earlier this week. This is annual event every second Saturday in May.

I almost alway's participate but I did not get the post card this year!

@toysaver No post card for us either but we do pretty major fund raising for our local food bank.
We have raised over $45K over the last 15 years with our Halloween home haunt. The $ amount we bring in each year goes up thanks to our fans and the generous donations from our fellow Tucsonans. 🙂
We work on projects year round to keep people coming back.

Three Cheers! You're certainly doing your part.
Some Post Offices will have bins in the lobby on Saturday but not all. There's plenty of Blessing Boxes and Little Free Pantry type locations sprouting up across the country too. My mom always donated so now I do it to honor her. She stressed the importance of giving simple easy to use foods in case children were feeding younger siblings. That always frightened me as a kid.

I haven't had a postcard since covid. I always put out a few large bags, I may see if the local PO will take donations.

I haven't heard if our PO is going to be doing it this year or not.
Employees at our PO just took a big pay cut, so don't know if they would want to help others or not.

Good to know! Thanks. I didn't get a card either this year.

My postal carrier left a specially printed blue plastic bag in my mailbox with mail delivery this week. There was no post card but I have the bag filled to leave for the carrier tomorrow. Always happy to donate to this good cause.

For me it came in the weekly junk mail for local grocery stores and the like.
I prepared what we are giving this morning. It will surely fill our oversized mailbox. Not sure what I'm going to do with what I have to ship tomorrow, but I'll get it figured out and all will be safe from all the critters we have around where we live.

Well if that is a reason, that is certainly sad. Sad indeed. Whether they can or not is a different conversation, but not wanting to is just really sad to me.

No post card, no bag. I'm a rural route and my carriers have not taken part. The main PO does and leaves bins in the lobby for donations.
I knew it was this weekend because the thrift store posted on facebook they weren't accepting donations May 11 thru May 15th to have room for the Stamps Out Hunger food from the PO. (the thrift store helps fund the food pantry and other basis needs).

I got the postcard. Thank you for the reminder.

I live rurally too @postcardcountry . I did not get the bag either, so I'm using one of my own.
I almost missed the post card too. It was really thin paper and it was in with my weekly grocery ads.
I don't think your carrier has a choice in this. If you leave food in your mailbox for them to take, they should take it. That has always been my experience.

Let's Hope they don't take that attitude, If anything they should do just the opposite, Because they could be in need someday themselves!, Actually that goes for any of us!

My mail is already 2 hours 'late' so I know the response has been good.
