Did the postage label push the weight to the next pound?

What packaging was used? As in what type of shipping container?

USPS supplied Priority box/envelope? Your own box/envelope?

Zip to, and zip from may help to determine.

Generally, with the APV process that was implemented back some years, if you are printing "online labels" ,you should not be getting those items back. The "system" should pick that up, and charge your payment source via the venue used when printing the label without sending the item back for additional postage.

If someone local is sending them back they are not following USPS policy.

Are you selecting a Priority flat rate envelope or box when you print the label, but are shipping in a generic box??

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

@pickme2749

Come back, and explain yourself calmly. CAPS is not going to help you here.

You shipped two packages. Both returned with extra postage required.

Both state the wrong service was used.

You shipped two items via priority mail.

One used a priority box what used a private (EBay) box.

Do I have this entirely 100% correct? Details are important. Don't just ignore something no matter how small. Be specific.

@pickme2749

Here is a potentially stupid question

Did you PRINT A LABEL on ebay?

I had a package sent to me recently that used STAMPS. It was a priority flat rate package that was paid for using freaking STAMPS. Like a lot of freaking stamps...

So that is why I ask.

I understand that for some it is easier to type in all caps and may be upset, but you are not talking to eBay personnel. We are buyers and sellers. We cannot see what or how you have shipped the items so need the information that has been requested to try and help.

Re: USPS SHIPPING HAVE HAD TWO PACKAGES THAT NEEDED EXTRA POSTAGE WITH CORRECT WEIGHT BUT WRONG SERV

Please check your numbers and post again.  There is no packaging, weight, or Zone which incurs a USPS postage cost of $7.88.  The exact prices and Postage Due amount can be a big help with detective work about this situation.

Also, when you used USPS packaging, which exact box or envelope did you use? "Wrong service used" implies that you put a flat-rate label on a regular-rate box, or vice-versa, but the numbers don't work out for that possibility.

Usually when postage is underpaid, it is just charged to the sender's account. For a package to be returned to you, it almost surely was flagged at your local Post Office before being sent onward to the sorting center. So one possibility is that the mistake lies with somebody at your local PO rather than with you, such as if you printed the postage amount on your label and they didn't know that you get a discount when you purchase your postage through eBay so they thought you underpaid.

If we can't figure it out here on the board, then if it happens again ASK for the reason before you pay the postage. And come back to discuss it here.

@pickme2749

Are you weighing your item AFTER packaging or before?

Re: USPS SHIPPING HAVE HAD TWO PACKAGES THAT NEEDED EXTRA POSTAGE WITH CORRECT WEIGHT BUT WRONG SERV

     Really difficult to determine without a lot of information. stuff4divas provided the best advice simply ask the post office. I have had a package returned to me once by my local post office where I shipped it from simply because they could not tell the difference between their own priority mail mailing box (what I shipped it in) and a large priority mail flat rate box (which is what they wanted to charge me for). In my case after highlighting the Priority Mail Mailing Box and taking it back to the PO and talking with them there was no extra postage due.
