USPS Rate increase.

Once again USPS rates will increase. Just a heads up to all fellow sellers. These increases will become affective July 13th 12:00 (or 12:01) a.m. eastern standard time???

Yes, and don't forget USPS will charging $4 fee for irregular packages, liquids inside package, contents that cause the package to roll around and other conditions (basically an excuse USPS can find to tax on additional charges).

 
Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and Ground Advantage will now assess a $4.00 fee for Non-Standard Packages.  This fee will apply to packages with these criteria: 

• Cylindrical tubes or rolls 
• A can, or wooden or metal box 
• A parcel containing more than 24 oz of liquid in glass containers, or 1 gallon or more of liquid in metal or plastic containers  
• Other (e.g. parcels prepared under DMM sections 601.3.0 and DMM 601.4.0 with contents that may cause the parcel to roll or not maintain the integrity of the packaging during processing) SPS also announced rate changes for Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, Media Mail, Signature Confirmation and Domestic Insurance. 

 Also on July 13, you will be able to indicate if you are shipping an irregular package in both the listing and label purchase flows on eBay. If your package meets the criteria for USPS Nonstandard Characteristics, your displayed rate will include the appropriate fee.

Funny enough, 10-15 years ago there was an option on the shipping page that you could check off for "Irregular Package". Back then, it actually decreased the shipping cost, sometimes substantially on larger items. Not sure why it did that, but curiously I would always click it to see if it would lower the rate. I don't recall it changing anything on smaller packages though.

7.5% increase, the charts I saw we're looking at $.28 to .45 increase Plus ebay's cut. Glad this is my last year selling, I'll make more on disability and not work 7 days a week.
