Just a little insight on shipping defects which are unjust:
Since November 2024 Billings, MT has been hit with voter mail, Christmas mail, staff shortages, weather delays, and all the things that any manager would turn to to avoid extreme ownership. Have been dropping off packages for the past 3 years and since November have been hit with 8 shipping defects. Since then have been hand delivering 100% of packages and have accrued enough information to highlight the fact that USPS is at fault for non scans, most of which have taken 3-10 days, and eBay in no way is willing to see information that would rectify the 8 shipping defects that is going to affect my item algorithm searches which would directly affect my sales. Yes, have audited my shipping means and changing shipping carriers would result in WAY more monetary loses than if i leave USPS. The point is if eBay wants reputable sellers to stay with eBay why not have an avenue of escalation to alleviate unjust defects b/c of issues with local USPS managers unwilling to fix operational failures?

I always wait in line at the post office to get that first acceptance scan. Placing a package directly in the outgoing mail bin (even with crossed fingers) is a huge gamble— because of the way eBay measures our performance as sellers.

100% waiting in line is the best way to guarantee that tracking scans are uploaded to minimize a delayed shipment defect. When it comes to shipping out 20+ packages it starts to become unrealistic to the viability of ones e-commerce business which i would say would be an issue with eBay as well.
The overall issue is: The scalability of an eBay e-commerce business should not be stunted by ones local USPS inability to function as described by their own business policies which includes scans that are never realized.
A push via eBay towards USPS would be a help but no such action will occur without information given by eBay sellers which are not wanted nor sought after by eBay to aid in CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. Sorry for the caps just thought it was needed.

Use a SCAN Form (Shipment Confirmation Acceptance Notice, or SCAN Form / Shipping Manifest).

Have been told via eBay that scan forms are not acceptable as a drop off docs. Have you been told via eBay the same?
Appreciate the responses but neither of y'all have any items for sale nor sales so your experience with eBay is..?

If you just started having problems with USPS scanning items in last November, then consider yourself lucky.
I started going to the post office and having each of my packages scanned in a little over 3 years ago because of delays in getting items scanned.
Some people see this as unfair and/or laborious, but I basically decided if I want to sell on the eBay platform, then this is just another part of doing business.
And as far as having 20 or more packages, that would make me want to have them scanned in even more, because in my experience, it's not 1 or 2 random ones that miss a scan, it's a whole batch.

Ebay SUPPLIES the scan form (filled out), if you print the labels on the bulk printing page..........so I don't know where you hear they aren't acceptable........ We see people present them in our PO all the time. Takes only a couple of seconds to scan that one form in.........versus trying to scan in each of 20+ packages.......

Appreciate the feedback. Not unfair nor unnecessarily laborious just in my short time selling viewing a scaling up issue as trivial as what I'm experiencing seems solvable within eBay without ending up considering an external remedy.
But it is what it is so onward we go!

Thanks for the info. Newer to this so I didn't know that existed so will look for that supplied scan form when i print labels on the bulk printed page. Thanks!

budlovellco, just an fyi.....sometimes the posters, mentors and volunteers on this board have multiple id's. One for selling and one for buying. So even though someone may look like they have never made a sale, they probably have another account id making sales.

SCAN forms produce scans that are no different than individual scans; they just simplify the scanning process for postal workers.
(This is my buying ID. I've been an eBay seller for 27 years with tens of thousands of transactions.)

Thank you for the info and will definitely get into the scan form process. Didn't mean to come off disrespectful was just curious. Didn't know about the multiple ID's but do appreciate the information and for you taking the time to help me out!

As mentioned, a SCAN form solves this problem of multiple packages. I buy my labels thru eBay and a SCAN form can be automatically generated when i check off the box prior to clicking the “Print Label” button. The result is the postal clerk only has to scan just one bar code for all packages.
While eBay could likely create a more seamless selling experience for sellers, as a corporate behemoth, it is unconcerned about many seller issues (and even less concerned about what it considers unsolicited advice). However, it is commendable of you @budlovellco to apply good sense to problem solving. I think you will do well here! Best of luck to you and wish you much success.
PS—Do come to the forums anytime. There is always someone to assist new sellers with more reliable advice than can be found at eBay customer service call center.
You inquired regarding my level of experience. Been an eBay seller for 15+ years, buyer before that.
