I do my best to sell merchandise and make a few extra dollars. I sell merchandise, I am not in the shipping business and I am not related to USPS, Fedex or UPS. I receive the order and I pack it and provide tracking within hours. Next business day without any exception I take them to the post office.
When an item is shipped and it is tracked but USPS sits on it in a certain city or distribution center, what it has to do with sellers rating?
An area is flooded, there is a huge snow storm or USPS just refuse to scan the merchandise that you have to leave at the loading dock as per their manager's request/ instruction. We the sellers are made responsible by eBay.

Your seller rating can be affected by the performance of the shipping employee. There is not much you can do about it. Sometimes the initial shipper will not scan the package. I used to have my shipping time of 1 day. But after USPS started dropping the ball I changed it to 3 days handling time. It also helps if someone buys late on a Saturday, the post office is closed on Sundays and if there is a Holiday on the Monday. But I wouldn't get worried too much about it.

What causes a SMH for me in these threads is when posters just level all the blame on the seller because they chose a particular carrier, and perhaps they should have chosen another service instead. Yet they always conveniently ignore the fact that all the major carriers in the U.S. are pretty much equal in their service "quality" so that choosing another carrier has the same odds of this problem as the one that was used.
Rather surprised there has not yet been a reply of that nature here.

Yep. I've gotten three service alerts this week from Fedex because of icing causing delays in Memphis and Indianapolis. Ground deliveries for Fedex were delayed in a lot of areas this week, and I'm sure UPS had delays as well since all three fly through the same airports.
That's not to mention the mudslides in California - I've gotten service alerts about those as well. That's all just in the past couple of weeks. Generally what affects one carrier will affect them all.
We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did. - Thomas Sowell

Very unfair and unreasonable to be held responsible for something over which you have no control!

Well, but ebay has a history of counting Monday holidays as shipping days.
And with USPS now delivering packages on Sunday....
It is only a matter of time before everyday will count in ebay's eyes.

Well the thing is if package has already been scanned prior to the Holiday you will be fine. If it hasn't been scanned is where you can run into trouble. The shipping label has to be printed AND the USPS employee must scan the package within you handling time. And the Sunday package delivery is just during the Holidays to my knowledge.

ebay knows with 80% certainty (they have the numbers) that my Priority Mail package will be delivered in 3 days...yet somehow maintains that every seller's delivery % must be the same as their payday %.
If ebay and logic were synonymous, we'd all be rich.

COCO..
Well, you are not running a shipping business yourself---but you are INVOLVED IN how shipping companies behave. And therefore you need to know what things may happen to the items you ship. AND you need to find ways around shipping delays that may occur.
Several posters here have given you a few good ways to protect yourself. For instance by increasing the HANDLING TIME you show on your Listings.
If you want to continue to sell on here successfully---you do need to account for occasional weather delays---or just poor performance on the part of your Shipper.

Is there a way to increase shipping on all of your items at once?

Well, today is Jan 21, and the USPS trucks are out, and I see them often, not just holidays.
I don't know how long we have had Sunday delivery, but it has been a few years now.
And it is well known that ebay often gets it wrong on monday holidays.
So you get a sale after the PO has closed on a Friday, and you print a label.
The clock has started,
If your PO is not open on Saturday... you are looking at Tuesday at the soonest scan.
So if you have a 1 day handle time, you are now at day five.

USPS gets delivers Priority Mail Express and certain Amazon packages on Sundays. This is eBay.
Also, trucks can work every day makes no difference when packages are stuck at some USPS distribution centers for 7 to 10 days. The weather messes up everything and there is no way anybody can prepare for such.
Top rated statuses and benefits with them are withdrawn for thousands of sellers.
Life is not about fairness, so why would we expect fair treatment from eBay?
I do all they request is not enough. They send emails about bad weather, but they still punish about bad weather.
