Toner Return Scam

If you sell Toner be careful. There is a group out there opening eBay accounts, buying toner, opening a return saying the toner is defective (usually with pictures of black and white smudged printing when you sell them a color toner cartridge). Then they return a cheap toner cartridge in its place and keep the high value item. This has happened to us twice in the last month. Be careful out there.

Toner Return Scam

Sorry this happened to you, it is not necessarily related to toner, but some unscrupulous buyers have been known to buy and return lower quality products, or just other products overall, and keep the original product free of charge. It sucks as it is difficult to prove and fighting back with eBay an ordeal. You could compare the package dimensions and weight and if they differ try and complaint to eBay to see if they refund, but again, that is not that easy. At the very least block those buyers and keep a list of them to compare if a future purchase to the same address comes up again.

Good luck.

Slight refinement:

If you sell {anything} be careful. There is a group out there opening eBay accounts, buying {anything}, opening a return saying {anything} is defective. Then they return {anything else} in its place and keep {anything}.

This has been true since 2008 when eBay first introduced the Money Back Guarantee for buyers.
