I think there should be a limit on how long a person can watch an item. I am thinking one week. If they go over one week, Ebay should knock them off of the watched too long item.

@pattik330: In a quick look at your previous posts (threads that you started) and replies you posted to other threads, its clear that for some reason watchers REALLY chafe your shorts. You have been complaining several times a year for several years on that topic. Why exactly is that?

I watch stuff for a long time and do make purchases after several months. I watch because I don’t need item right away or maybe I don’t have spendable income now. I like I can watch for a long time and it would hurt me if this had expiration. Some stuff that I watch I already bought but would buy again in the future. Love it no change for me.

WHY? I have purchased items after TWO YEARS of watching the same listing!!!!!!!!!! If you can list it for more than a week why can't I watch as long as I want????

The watch list is a convenience for buyers.
Why in the world would eBay change it so that it is less convenient for buyers?

EEK! A control freak! 😲😆😉
You can stop watching Watchers. Problem solved. 😊

LOL. Just stop paying attention to watchers if it bugs you. What difference does it make?

I think number of watchers may suggest item popularity and demand.

I own a gift shop.
A persons walks by my gift shop every day.
They are interested in a item I have in the window.
They have been interested in this item for some time now.
I think they should only be interested in it for a maximum of 1 week.
After 1 week they should not be allowed to be interested in it any longer.

So, you are saying that if I put something of yours on my watch list until payday that is 3 weeks away, you want me to be removed as a watcher in 15 days?
You know what would happen then?
When I get paid, I am going to search for that item again, and likely end up not buying yours because I am no longer watching it and eBay's search results are going to show everyone's, including ones that might now be at a lower price or a better style condition etc. than yours was that I was watching to buy when I got paid.
If knowing how many watchers you have bothers you, you can remove watchers from your view in the seller hub. Just click on customize table above the first listing.

I've always used that very practice to judge how my auctions are doing while they're running. An auction that attracts zero watchers (which is fortunately pretty rare for me) is almost certainly going to tank at the end. An auction that accumulates watchers over the week of its run time is almost certainly going to have a very lively ending.

It does but the OP says they do not want to know any of that.
