Time Away - Vacation longer than 30 days

I'm leaving on a vacation of about 40 days.  Time away is limited to 30 days.  If I close my store for the duration, I'd be able to easily relist the items, but I hate to lose the sales history, since I've sold some items hundreds of times.

I'm thinking about using time away to close my store for 30 days, then re-opening it & changing the handling time to 10 days. I understand I'd lose my top rated seller status, but I can't think of a better solution.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet, and it's worth bringing up in case you're unaware @pvanten. You'll still need to check eBay every few days while away in case any returns or claims are filed that require you to take action. If you will have zero internet access then there is the option to set up automated return rules which you could then disable when you're back to business.

Also - you can set up an out of office auto-response which is a separate action from the time away setting, but found on the same page.

I go away for 4 - 6 weeks every Summer, on an average year I get one or two INR/NAD claims, EVERY year those claims are filed when I am away (total off grid) and thus every year I live with one or Unresolved By Seller mega-defects. Fortunately one or two don't mean anything but still.............

I put my site on Time Away for 30 days, then turn it off before it ends, then set it for another 30 days.

Have a great day.

Re: Time Away - Vacation longer than 30 days

I’m on my second 30 day time-away. A day before your first 30 day time-away is ending just turn it off then start a new time-away. I recommend doing this 2-3 minutes before the coming hour or there might be a small window of time where a buyer can buy as time-away no longer has “start immediately”.

Re: Time Away - Vacation longer than 30 days

Curious how "Snowbirds" have found eBay sales to work for them - when they are away from their inventory for about 6 months. For example, the business would run November - April with inventory being maintained in southern Florida, and would need to be closed May - October when living up north.

@myagelessbest

This is an old thread from January.  The OP selected their best answer, so I doubt they'll reply.

Should you have any questions or concerns it is always a good idea to start your own thread to get the help and advice for your specific issue.

Happy Selling

@myagelessbest   Did you read the thread? Use "Time away" but you'll have to re-start it every 30 days.

Because you sell one-offs @myagelessbest , I suggest turning on the Out of Stock setting and changing all your listing quantities to 0. Once you return you can re-up the quantities to 1 - or if the listings have already ended (they stay active but hidden for 6 mos when out of stock) you can find them in your ended listings for up to 90 days from end date and relist them. Don't forget to turn off the out of stock setting when you return.

Re: Time Away - Vacation longer than 30 days

Yes, I read the thread, but no one mentioned 6 months and there exists some discrepancy between time away and out of stock, so I felt there was merit to asking in this specific scenario.
