I called Ebay yesterday to ask a few questions and to have a negative feedback removed because the buyer said item not delivered which it was and still ebay wont remove the feedback....thats a whole other story! I talked to a rep in the sales department and asked why my traffic and views were down. This rep flat out told me it doesnt matter if you promote or dont promote and other sellers items are placed higher than yours because they need to sell their items also!!!! I almost passed out on the phone!!!! We promote all items offer 1 day handling free returns and we are top rated seller. The rep said refreshing your account does not exist promotions do not help you sell an item and basically tough luck if your item is on the 5th page because other sellers need to sell their items as well!!!!!!!! I do not know what to believe anymore with this platform!?!?! I really wish i had taped this conversation it would have blown many minds. Just wanted to share this experience I had with the community. good luck with your sales

They were right, promoting doesn't really help sell anything, but it does get more people to see your item.
But, if they are not interested, it isn't going to sell, no matter how much you promote it.

Honestly i have a hard time believing what many of the reps say. Good or Bad they have been so inconsistent with the flow of information that it is hard to say. Sounds like they were helpful (or at least tried) and it is interesting what they did reveal to you.

Some advice....don't put any stock or waste any time with eBay's fabulous customer service dept. They are outsourced overseas agents who read from scripts and know very little about eBay if anything. If you want your feedback removed or at least try to get it removed, you need to go here:
https://www.facebook.com/ebayForBusiness/
https://www.twitter.com/ebayforbusiness
These agents are US CS eBay employees and may better serve you and your situation. Many positive posts with their ability to be helpful. In the past they were helpful concerning my issue at hand. Contact them today.
Good luck to you!

Totally believe it. Never had better sales with a Store. Never had better sales with promoted listings. Never had better sales with 1 day shipping. Ebay does so many things behind the scenes to make it harder to sell, I gave up worrying about it.

Is it possible that the sellers listed above you are paying a higher percentage in promoted listings? Sounds just like eBay.

They're not wrong.

I've tried experiments using the sky high promo rates eBay suggests.
Didn't get me anywhere. I've never sold one item that I tried promoting at eBay's suggested rates.
My conclusion -- either people want my stuff or they don't, promotions be damned.

I wish you would have called me instead.
I would have told you why your items aren't selling.

I have found that there is no way to predict what is going to sell on here promote or not in many cases. For some it might work for others maybe not. It is a very complicated issue. Depending on price points probably as the most important factor as well as good photos descriptions and an BASIC TRAFFIC to the website as a whole. Good luck navigating through this complex website.

I have promoted many items and sold many of them but I am smart and promote them at a rate I can live with and get the price point where the buyer will actual look to buy it at that good price. Never overinflated your prices compared to comps on here you will get nowhere.

That was not helpful at all. Sorry.
I'm sorry.
I just can't fathom anybody calling ebay because their stuff isn't selling.
