The "NEW LISTING" designation

When a new listing is created and listed, how long does the "NEW LISTING" designation remain with the item?

I believe it is 24 hours.

For my listings the "New Listing" tag stays for 24 hrs.  Items that I listed yesterday morning had the tag yesterday and when I looked this morning it is no longer there.
