........................ that some people have no clue how to take a picture and upload it to their computer or have no camera or smart phone to do it with ... or simply lack the knowledge on how to do it or figure it out??????
I have a customer trying to process a return and they can't get past the picture requirement ... so they asked for my address so they can simply send the item back through the mail ... errnt, not going to happen.
While I understand the reason for the picture I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a good % of Buyers who simply cannot do that ... is there no work around????????????????

My husband wouldn't be able to do it. He's got a PhD but has never done well with technology. It's not his age; he wouldn't have been able to do it 20 years ago either. On the other hand, my 99-year-old 4th grade teacher is a whiz with her smart phone.
At the very least, there should be an option for a seller to say that a photo isn't necessary for the return.

How about I remove the stress of this, Venmo or Paypal you $20 bucks and you tell these nice non- techies, Merry Christmas?
1000% serious.
Life is too short and you and your poor Buyer have lost time/days you will never recover!
You do so much on here - would be honored to pay it forward.....

@carolynnq What a brilliant idea ... common sense eludes some ... several days of messages back and forth and Buyer then initiates the return and gets stopped dead in their tracks ... I have a feeling I will not hear from them again despite letting them know ANY picture will work ...

@katzrul15 As always you are too kind! The stress, confusion, frustration of course is caused by eBay ...

Already way too many steps for a certain age group ...
HEY KID!😡!!
You're talking about my people here! Even my 85 y.o. sister is fairly computer literate. The BILs less so, because they never learned to type.
And I think that's the problem for a lot of us Boomers, again especially the men. Being able to touch type is a huge help in learning to use a computer.
But yes, it's a lot of steps, which is why it's a workaround (and around and around).
The one that still baffles me is trying to take a QR code to the post office for customs declarations. I've never figured out how to do that. (And it's Canada Post, so there are differences in how USPS and CPC do it.)

I take the picture on my phone camera.
Then I send it to myself by email.
Then I open the picture from the email and put it on my desktop.
Then I drag and drop the desktop picture to eBay.
Which is why I try to sell only flat things I can scan.
@reallynicestamps - Just a thought - you could speed up the process by simply plugging your phone into your desktop/laptop and uploading your photos that way - just drag and drop anywhere you please.

The word "simply" terrifies me.
My phone will not receive or send emails.
My computer usually will not allow me to print in black, so most of my printed documents have dark green print.
And I am getting more and more annoyed that every publisher I submit my current novella to has a different format for manuscripts and usually don't accept ones made on Macs or in Open Office.
I want to change the bank my MP payments go to, but I'm scared it will shut me out permanently.
On the other hand, I can touch type. On a manual typewriter.

If they are navigating shopping on line, clicking and up loading a payment method, mailing address etc. they should (key word should) be able to navigate taking and uploading a photo. If they buy in person at Macy*s and decide to return do they make Macy*s come get it? Thank GOD eBay is requiring a photo to accompany a return. Too many buyers have gotten away with claiming not as described without having to post a photo then when eBay approves the return and there is nothing wrong with the item eBay just shrugs their shoulders and says you can relist the item. No recourse whatsoever for remorse buyers fraudulently using not as described.

A required photo is very useful when, for instance, glassware is claimed to have arrived broken, but how is it helpful when it's an item that's claimed to be non-functional but is visually OK, for instance, electronics/ a watch ?
Maybe, if it were possible, a photo is only necessary when and if the seller demands it?

Hello,
Never received any information regarding photo required on NAD returns. Could someone please explain.
Thank you

But what happens when the buyer is like me? I don't have a smartphone and I don't have a scanner (gave all my scanners away when I closed down my newspaper).
I do have a camera ... an old one that one require I charge it up, find the little disks that the picture gets saved on, take the photo, look for that little device that plugs into the computer to accept the disk since this computer didn't come with that option, download into computer and add to the return request ... humm, that might take me a couple of days ... will eBay and seller wait a few days while I do all of that? LOL

@momdadsstash I don't know what kind of return the Buyer filed and per @chpgts 's question, they have never seen the picture requirement on an NAD return ... so it begs the question, WHAT return types is the picture required on??? This is a plastic with metal wheels O Gauge train car under $ 20 ... I advised the Buyer to use the reason Changed their mind but have no clue what they did on the return flow. And at this point may never know ... crickets from the Buyer right now.
