Did you mean:

The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

I need advice.
I sold the dress I photographed to see the size. I wear L / XL and it suits me
I also wrote the exact measures
I sent it to America
The buyer says that the size of M is that it carries L / XL that it is small but not terrible
To pay the postage when it returns and sends again or L / XL size
I replied that I was sorry she was small and that I only had one dress. The buyer replied that she would appreciate / want to return her $ 25 to pay the tailor she could wear because I was wrong, I described that L / XL and she is a smaller number. The dress was sold for $ 48.
I know that dress is not M size
I feel frustrated
And I'm afraid she will give me a negative rating if I do not pay her
The buyer did not open the dispute but sends messages to Ebay
I do not know if I need to click a refund in the paypal?

So far, I have not had a request for a return
Does the customer act in accordance with the rules?

Would you please advise me what to do? Much will mean to me your opinion and experience on Ebay that I do not have much.
Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, not all people are standard built, so I write the correct measures
I'm taking care of the measurement

It does not matter about standard size or not?  I am not sure why you think what I suggested would have any effect on this.  When I sell items internationally I include US sizes and international metric sizes because I want to make the buying process as easy as possible., But whatever if you do not understand this advice.

The dress is beautiful and the model looks great in the dress.

Good Luck Sellîng!

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

I understand the advice and I absorb everything, I teach, everything matters to me, I appreciate every advice!
Thanks a lot!
I wanted to say that the exact measures are very important
Not all clothes (especially used) are standard
Just that

I'm used to S / M / L / XL sizes, we often use these tags in Serbia and they are the same for the whole world, right?

I mean, when in Serbia I buy something that is manufactured in the United States, I will look for L / XL because it is my number
According to American standards

I want to say that these standards are not unknown to me

I have over 12,000 (actually about 15,000) items sold in Serbia, for years I sell wardrobe, I love this job, I enjoy it 🙂

Thank you very much for everything and compliments, you are beautiful!

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

I do not want to argue with the buyer, never
I wish that woman was honest
I respect time and other people's money
I am sincerely happy when customers are satisfied, that makes me really happy
I would never deliberately harm anyone
I hope you understand me

But here I have the feeling that the customer uses the system
And I know that the dress is neither S nor M size

And it hurts me injustice

I actually wanted to say, that woman had written accurate pre-purchase measures, no matter what I write, that XL or XXL , if the measures say otherwise, will not buy?

US sizes and Serbian metric sizes is the same, identical

We use other markup sizes as well as USA tags and your measurements are most common

That's why I wrote that it is the same for the "whole world" :), but of course, for example, Italy is the second mark, France, etc.

It's not science, especially if they write the exact measures

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

Hi,
I don’t want to return the dress! If I do return it, you would have to pay for postage. I am just asking you to refund me $25 so I can get my seamstress to alter it to fit me.
Thank you.

xxxxx

She answered that.

What now?

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

Your buyer is exactly VIOLATING POLICY!  Please open this link.  https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/rules-policies-buyers/buying-practices-policy?id=4374

Buyers are prohibited to demand partial refunds and make other "unreasonable demands".

I would tell her, "Every body is different.  We cannot guarantee fit. If you are unhappy with the dress, please return at your own expense."

Also google "Liar Buyer Fraud".  Because, like you, so many sellers are terrified of bad feedback, sneaky buyers like this one get used to scaring sellers and waiting for free money to come rolling into their accounts.

You will not succeed as a seller if you let fear dominate you. IF she negs you, oh well. Move on. You did nothing wrong.

Sadly you are being EXTORTED by the buyer.  Very common.   Which Ebay allows and even encourages by how ratings / feedback system.   I sold a perfectly described tennis racket for $100  with 12 pics the buyer claimed WASNT AS DESCRIBED wanted $30 back   I didnt pay  buyer left me NEG feedback  even though the case was decided for me.

Best to save the money and not pay the extortionist wannabe, BTW  ebay treats sellers like sh!t

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

Classic is 1,000% correct about eBay's horrific, asinine, and totally screwed up return policy which favors the buyers. eBay is in it to make money, period, and the buyers have the money ... not the sellers ... so chuck ethics and common sense out the window to satisfy their constituency.

I'm not a store, just an individual seller (and buyer) with AN EXCELLENT RECORD, and just very recently I sold a Canon SLR (film) camera which was given to me after someone passed away. I had no use for it so I decided to list it on eBay. It WAS NOT working, which I more than once stated so in my description, and added at the end that any potential buyer is buying it "AS IS" and no returns accepted based on my description. Someone bought it, and later asked for a return based on ... get this ... it was defective, even though in her add-on she mentioned that she got it to work through a photography professor, but the film didn't re-wind correctly, and he suggested to her that she return it. I called eBay, spent God-knows how long waiting for a rep, then debating this, and long story short ...  they al fall back on "it's eBay's return policy". Everything, as of today, is ... up in the air.

HINT for whoever cares : ebay, change the **bleep** policy. Anything sold as "used" and says "No warranty" shouldn't give a buyer a free pass by offering a 30 day immunity, especially anything which involves electronics. Who knows what a buyer may do once they get it. If  a buyer doesn't like it, are they dumb enough to say so and not get a return ?? And does eBay really know the condition of anything which would justify they making these decisions in favor of one party over another ? Every single eBay rep answered that query by saying that since the buyer has the item, they have to believe them. When I pose the suggestion that if that's the case ... believe whoever has the item ... why not believe me when I had (whatever) item, listed it in excellent condition, and was in excellent condition when it left my hands ? CRICKETS ; SILENCE.

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

So I found the listing in question and I'm going to have to disagree with most everyone here.  The buyer is owed in a refund in my opinion.   The listing title says L/XL however in the description you mention its tagged a size small but fits like a L/XL.  In the future don't put just what you think it fits like in the title.  If it was tagged a small small needs to be in the title.  Listing it that way someone could miss that its actually a size small think they are buying an actual L/XL and then get it and of course it doesn't fit.  Along with that you say you put measurements.  You have the pit to pit as a 19.29 so about a 38" chest and you have the length of almost 50"   however waist is blank and hips just say big.

I would just tell the buyer to return for a full refund and yes you refund return shipping.

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

I wrote that dress L is size, maybe XL
And by Standard U.S. Apparel Size Chart dress is L
Why write that S is bigger?
Such is the model that the waist and hips are HUGE

Re: The buyer will not return the item but will want half the money back

I wrote BIG for  hips
It is clear that it is huge, very wide and also suitable for XL / XXL in hips

because it's tagged a small.  Whether you feel it runs large or not the actual size needs to be in the title to cut down confusion.

While there may be size charts for "standard sizing" there really isn't much standard particularly for womens clothing.  I have clothes ranging from size small to size large that fit me.  Even different styles from the same brand can fit me different and require a different size than what I generally wear.  Different brands often run different.  If someone knows the brand is buying they are going to have an idea of what size they usually wear in that brand and search for that size so putting it in the title helps.  If you put just the size you feel it is they may read no further and think that's the size they need.  Should they read further absolutely but your not putting all the accurate information and that is part of the problem.  And just putting "big" under the hip measurements doesn't really help either.  Big is subjective or an opinion there is nothing a buyer can go on by your opinion of big because their opinion of big may be entirely different.

the hips are likely meant to fit loosely.   because the chest size of 38 wouldn't work for most XL and definitely not XXL

so my opinion on the size is most size smalls I find in womens have 34" -36" which to me would mean yours with a 38" is more like a medium but again thats only my opinion which doesn't matter much...what matters is the size tag and actual measurements.
