So as I understand the latest development, all "qualified listings" (1 day handling, FP and IPR) will be auto opted in. If I change my handling to 2 days after that date does that affect those already opted into the GD or do I have to them individually?
It's probably a never mind anyway because I just realised there IS no global site preferences setting for handling time and I have to bulk edit them anyway (and hope to hell the revision fees that show up ARE only aas the blues put it "cosmetic").

You do not need to have 1 day handling to be opted in. My handling time has always been 2 days and I received a message last month I was being opted in because Historically I ship within 24 hours. so be aware of that. thanks for reminding me I need to opt out of something I did not opt into.!

ebay could get into trouble one of these days due to their 'Historically Speaking' references.
Somebody needs past records and ebay says they don't know anything about them might now wash well.

It makes no sense, because if I choose to take the full 48 hrs to ship something how can they possibly Guarantee "arrive at your door" in 2-3 business days? that does not even happen when shipping Priority mail coast to coast never mind 1st class.

I believe you do need same or 1 day

I've ordered some items on another major website with guaranteed delivery and last night one order was late. As of this morning, there's a notice that two more orders are going to be late. That's three of the last four orders. It's not a positive customer experience.
Anyway it's a good reminder for me too to be sure I'm not in it and to opt out of it if I ever am.

Somehow, I think that new sellers - in particular - are going to be much more likely to follow ebay's 'suggestions', so as to keep in their 'good graces' (and not get that termination notice). Historically speaking is 'ebay has spoken', and their prediction on how things shall be. (if I remember rightly, seems to me that sellers went through something like this some years back)
Facts? What are those?

Listings that meet the following requirements will be eligible, meaning they can display to buyers with a Guaranteed Delivery date:
- Set same-day or 1-day handling time. If you offer same-day handling, we recommend setting your same-day cutoffs.
- State eligible carrier services in listings. Generic listings such as standard, economy, expedited, and flat rate freight do not meet this requirement.
- Add a postal code to the listing location.
While I do not know this for certain, but IMO eBay's approach will be that they are opting the seller or the seller's account into the GD program, even though their listings may not currently qualify.
But if a seller remains opted in after May 1st and then later revises their existing listings, then those listings that do meet the programs requirements will be offered for GD.
But that is just my opinion and how I read the announcement from 03-03-18.
Sellers With Great On-Time Handling Have Earned a Place
in eBay Guaranteed Delivery 03-03-18
Kinda of like the way that eBay attempted to auto enroll every seller into their Global Shipping Program a couple of years ago.

I get so annoyed at having to opt out of things that I didn't CHOOSE to opt in to.
Here's a concept - Let SELLERS decide.
Ebay - If we want to opt in to something we'll let you know.
Leave the choosing to us !!

Sounds like they had a lack of "volunteers" perhaps? The auto opt in is typically a result of same.

Suppose you don't want that Earned Place? Have they provided an opt out button?

itty - supposedly that option will be available on the 1st of May. We'll see.

Not yet.
Supposedly the opt out button will magically appear on May 1st within all eBay seller's "site preferences". We shall have to wait and see if that happens, as promised and in a timely fashion.

I hear you. I will bet dollars for donuts that during the 2nd quarter earnings call that some eBay executive trots out a statement to the effect of,
"During the month of May over 90% of our sellers enrolled in our new Guaranteed Delivery Program, so we expect to see stronger buyer loyalty in the future due to these faster delivery times. We have pulled on that flywheel and now that flywheel, is a flywheeling, therefore........... we expect continued growth in this area over the next couple of years."

I have a 3 day handling time on all of my listings but I received the notice that I would be opted into GD on May 1st since I ship same day or next day. It is my understanding I have to opt out. Maybe I am wrong but that is how the email sounded.
