THEFT OF PACKAGE

I was wondering if there is anythingi can do to get my items from someone who wasnt supposed to get my package,opened it realized it wasnt thiers and kept item im the person who supposed to get item seller sent to wrong address i dont want the seller to get in trouble because he tried to get item back but was blocked by person who recieved package any ideas on how to proceed?

@dqdistribution was responding to someone else who had replied in Message 24 (here). Their summary (in Message 24) of your situation was pretty much on-target, but the second paragraph, about having the seller file a claim with USPS (there is no claim that would apply here), or telling the recipient of the wrong package that he's notifying the police and postal inspectors, is pure bluffing. The odds of the recipient believing that seem pretty remote. Anyway, that is the seller's problem, not yours.

Not actual theft unless under the law for your location it is. In my state for instance, if you did not order an item delivered, you legally can keep the item no questions asked with no obligation. But, that carries the caveat of it being addressed to you.

That delivery address may change things. However, sellers are required to use the address on file, provided by ebay. If that address is incorrect, the burden is upon the buyer to change prior to sale. If you change it prior to shipping from what was provided, you have invalidated seller protections.
