I sold an item yesterday that I shipped this morning (8am). An hour ago (5pm) I received an e-mail from ebay saying that they cancelled the order because the buyer is no loger registered with ebay. Also, the ebay fees were returned. The email suggests that I should not ship the item, or if i did, then i should try to intercept the package.
I spent $50 to ship the item and to intercept the package and have it returned to me it costs an additional $71. What should I do?????
According to paypal I'm eligible for seller protection. Should I let the item be delivered?
your input will be greatly appreciated.

I've had 2........and ebay said to intercept.......which would have cost more than the item. I called paypal and they said as long as I shipped to the address shown on their payment I was covered. Neither time was there any "case" filed with paypal that I know of........

I hope you didn't ship it overnight express. If you don't intercept it you can kiss that $300.00 good bye. They purchased with a stolen CC....

I shipped it via usps ground with signature confirmation.
I really think that if I let it be delivered and it turns out that it was purchased with a stolen credit card then paypal will take the loss.
Remember, I'm eligible for seller protection. They said to ship the item, so I shipped the item.

I thought an intercept was cheaper than that?
Pay Pal maybe is supposed to protect You as a Seller but they more generally protect Buyers. I'd get on the phone right away and See what they say. The GOOD thing about this is that they did tell you it WAS OK to ship. Take snips of the page you got from PP right away also. I have had things disappear out of Pay Pal.
Hopefully, someone who knows Pay Pal better will come along and help YOU! Sugar
I think the choice is on You. either get the item back or let it go and lose the whole $300.00.

The item no longer exsists in ebays data base real good sign someone is going to get hosed....

thank you, here is what the web page says:

What should I do now?
Ship to the address on this page.
Save your tracking or shipping info.

btw, my take away from this experience is to never ship anything above $100 the next day.

I contacted a seller that this buyer purchased from and here is what they had to say:
>>
Hello. We received that message about that buyer as well. Our item was actually delivered 2 days ago. I've had this happen in the past with items I've already shipped and I didn't intercept the package though. As long as you've shipped to the seller protected address, you're good. I've actually had eBay send that message in the past and then a PayPal case was never opened so I don't listen to it unless I haven't shipped the item yet.

You're covered.

Um, let's see... $121 versus $300? Hmmm... $300 - $121 = $179. Geez-Louise, I just don't have a CLUE which option is better! Oh, wait! You already LOST the $50 shipping. So that would be $350 - $71 = $279. Gosh darn it, why does this new math have to be so hard??😱 😉
Seriously, honey, intercept the package.

What makes you think he's going to lose anything?
For seller, UA is the most winable issue. If PP wants to intercept it, let them pay the fee.

intercept the package asap. You are going to get robbed.
Then go to usps.com and file a mail fraud complaint on this person. if it were me, I'd contact the police department in their town too
The credit card company will force paypal to take your money

Hi Belle,
your logic makes sense but i think it ssumes that the paypal seller protection is not worth anything.
I've had two other cases opened against me this year by paypal and I've won them both. One was for $25 and the other one for around $200. Both closed in my favor without me doing anything.
This one is a little different. The message came from ebay not paypal.
As a good seller, I've shipped immediatelly. Why should I be penalized for following the rules?

hi magic,
the ebay message says that they had "to cancel bids for the buyer XXX because they aren't registered on ebay."
i don't know what that means? could it be that he/she decided to close the account?
few facts about the buyer, he/she has been an ebay member since jan 8, 2017 with a positive feedback of 7 and with all purchases made during the past month.
again, i followed the rules...

Okay, first, I don't know what a UA is, so that bit just went completely over my head. Second, you may well be right. I don't have any experience with this, so I'm happy to concede that those of you in the community with more experience and knowledge probably are the people the OP should listen to. My response was just a visceral reaction to the thought of being out the money and the item. 😬😊
