Suspension violating rules

Ok, so this automated policy enforcement is GARBAGE!  I just caught a 3 day suspension because a BUYER GAVE ME HIS PHONE NUMBER and we finished our transaction on ebay through ebay.  I ignored the message about his number and yet I still catch a **bleep** restriction?  I called ebay and they don't care.  They told me there is nothing they can do even though its painfully obvious that I DID NOTHING wrong.

Seriously, who else is strugging with this automated enforcement catching innocence?

Im to the point where I am about to flip the **** out.  This is so frustrating.

They're not the only ones.  I see a number of listing with contact information.

I got a seller/buyer message with direct URLs to the seller's off site website and their email address with the at sign edited to avoid detection.  I posted about that here and got no replies.  I posted about it on the Chat and sent it to Staff.  No action taken.

But that is the thng. Why no action taken. That's the burnng queston. Is this policy only for smaller sellers? They certainly aren't going after the larger guys I buy from. They didn't even realize the policy existed. They haven't read it and aren't going to. They go about ther business of selling without any concern in the world.

Dunno.

Y'all care to comment there?  Why are some sellers allowed to openly display URLs in their listings and member to member messages?

I didn't read the entire chat, just went right to your post. Their link is pretty well hidden. We all know though how well reporting listings goes. Doubt anything will change.

Even if they DID review the report, they won't do anything.

You know it, I know it, we ALL know it.

We should all do it and invoke the blues when we get slapped - and I'd bet that slapping would come from a bot too. The bots just probably ignore the ones they want to ignore.

I have 3 messages which I am just not opening up.

Only way I know of to avoid it.

Don't worry; they will fix that in the next update, so that receiving a message with alleged contact info will get you dinged whether you see it or not (covering those of us as well who read all our emails through a traditional email client like Mozilla Thunderbird).

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

The other day, one of my favorite sellers. I messaged him through Pay if he would relist something for me as I wanted to buy it. WELL.....he puts in the return message. No problem, I'll bill you through PayPal and save you a few dollars. I absolutely freaked. I emailed back telling them they couldn't do it or they would be shut down in a heart beat. I ended up phoning their brick and mortar store  to make sure they relisted it so transaction would be above board.  This seller has 6 digit reviews. Does that make a differencea??

Turns out he does this for quite a few customers. Some call his store. Sometimes he messages them through eBay. He has NEVER NEVER had a bot message.

Ebay, explain that one.

That could be due to the fact that at the time, the item you were asking about was not currently listed, and so eBay had no jurisdiction over it?  That is the only explanation I can think of.

Warnings are NOT given before a suspension or having an account cancelled. I once had a 3 day suspension and the reason was that while the item was not on the recall list it was similar to the item that was recalled and buyers might mistakenly think it was so. Wonderful Ebay move. Actually I used the 3 days to make new listings to add when the suspension was over and to read books a lot. It was great!!!

Suspension violating rules

@oaklandmaryland

A warning was given in my situation and rightly so.  A few months ago, I violated the policies and was given a warning.  I deserved that and I didn't complain because I knew I was in the wrong.  Then a few weeks later I was given a 7 day ban and my items were removed because I again tried sneaking my contact numbers in listing (in the picture this time).  I was guilty BOTH of those times and accepted my punishment as eBay deemed fit.  I complained under my breath to myself but never posted about it.  This time however I didn't do anything wrong and they banned me for 3 days.  Their warning, 7 day, 3 day progression didn't make sense me to but the issue was I was innocent, which is why i was unwilling to take this punishment.  I called and complained.

When I am in the wrong, I don't complain.  When I am innocent (which I have been since the 2nd threatening message) I will get on here and sing everytime.  Their policy is nothing more than to incite fear in sellers.  I am legitimately afraid to do off eBay business through paypal directly because I fear I will get shut down.  I have customers that found me outside of eBay and I still point them to eBay to do transactions because I am afraid that paypal will tip eBay off that I have transactions coming in that are not eBay sales.  I cannot afford to lose this account I worked hard on for the past 4 months.  My reviews speak for themselves, I am an awesome and polite seller, but when I am wrongly convicted of a transgression I became a downright witch.

eBay, is now controlling their sellers through fear based policies.  Which reminds me, every and I mean every single other seller that sells my services has their phone number in their pics and in their listings.  I am not joking when I say EVERY seller except me.  Search "sprint s8 sim unlock service" and look through the listings.  ONLY mine has no phone number or whatsapp number.  eBay is not harassing or banning these other sellers. What if someone was to create a fake account, and start sending their phone number to their competition?  There would be no purchase after the message containing the phone number, so would that lead to a ban?

eBay did not think this policy through...if I was a vindictive person I could easily do this to all my competition.  But I don't...because there is plenty of business to go around in my category.

eBay is ran about as effectively as the US government.
