Suspended Account?

Hey, so I just noticed I received a couple of emails saying I had fees to pay and that my account has been suspended for not paying the fees. An item I was listing was sold at the end of May, the buyer as probably a fake account because the account had been created recently in 2019 and had 0 feedback. I waited for payment but never received anything and thought eBay would just cancel everything after lack of payment from the buyer.

Well just checked and seems like it as not canceled, I'm still due fees for items I never actually sold, my account is suspended and I don't seem to find a way to contact eBay customer service. I can't open an unpaid items dispute as it's over the 32 day period. Anyone know whom to contact or what I can do to solve this issue? Having to pay for not selling an item and not receiving payment seems a little unfair.

Thank you

Re: Suspended Account?

First, I'd recommend you pay eBay their fees.

Second, understand that when an item Sells (if you're paid or not), you Do owe eBay their final value fee.

But... in that case, eBay allows you to file an Unpaid Item Dispute.. which tells the buyer to pay, and if they don't , THEN eBay credits you your fee back.

It's not automatic.

You have to file the UID within 30 days.

@fabifahm_0

btw,

eBay is known to send people to collection agencies for not paying them, what they owe.

Please pay this now.

Since you are past the deadline, it's probably the easiest and cheapest way to settle this.

Thanks,

Lynn

Re: Suspended Account?

Did you file a UID against the buyer?  That is what you would need to do to get your selling fees back from eBay.  Pay what you owe or eBay may send your account to collections.

Unless you tell them eBay has no way to know for sure if you got paid or not.

You can try calling, click on  Help & Contact at the top of every eBay page and follow the prompts.

Re: Suspended Account?

Sure, I will issue the payment. Thanks for the quick reply.
So you know if there is any way to contact eBay though? I still would like to explain my issue as I still don't think it's fair of them to charge fees if items are not sold.
Thanks

Re: Suspended Account?

Turn on your Unpaid Item Assistant. Everyone should have this turned on. I have it turned on. I don't bother if buyers don't pay because I know eBay will close the case and refund any fees.

The item did sell, you just didn't get paid and unless you open an UPI, Ebay doesn't know you weren't paid.

All they know is you sold the item and they want their share.

You should be able to call CS and explain to them and see what they suggest.

Re: Suspended Account?

I can't open one as it is passed the 32 days, I just paid what I had the amount due but since it was technically a sale of 400$ according to eBay I was annoyed I had to pay that much. Also, eBay does say "still awaiting payment" so technically they do know I never received payment and therefore the order should be canceled and shouldn't be charged. I just thought it would be automatic, but now I learned my lesson the hard way.

Re: Suspended Account?

Go in and cancel the sale, it should cancel that amount make sure to chose 'buyer requested' since they never actually paid it won't matter. For future reference, DON'T EVER sell something that expensive on here being a 'newbie' seller. You are a prime scammer magnet, even more so if it was an electronics item.

Re: Suspended Account?

Hi sorry for your troubles. To contact eBay, go to the Help and Contact button on just about any page. Then follow the prompts. You can also go to their Facebook or Twitter to reach a customer service rep. Good luck and I hope you are able to get your fees back. In the future, you need to police your account on a daily basis. Even if you haven't got an item up for sale, past transactions can have issues arise. For example, someone opens a return request or files a Not As Described claim. On eBay a buyer has 30 days to open a claim, but on PayPal they have 180 days to file. So keep a close eye on your account for at least 6 months past the sold date of your last sale.

Re: Suspended Account?

I know this is frustrating for you, but do try and keep in mind that Ebay hasn't done anything wrong.  Ebay expects it sellers to know the rules of selling.  They are available for everyone to see.  It is so important to learn the rules instead of using the Wing It method.  As you can see, that has backfired on your big time.

Treat this like any other job.  Learn HOW to sell and the do's and don'ts.  Your life will be so much easier and this kind of thing won't happen to you again.

Your option right now is to contact Ebay right away.  Explain what happened and see if they will help you.  Since you are past the 32 days, it will be up to Ebay to decide if they will be willing to give you a credit for the FVF or not.  You may end up having to pay it.  But contact Ebay right away tomorrow and take care of this before it gets worse for you.  I see you still have a couple items up for sale.  So things could get worse.

It's important to be aware of where you post a question on Ebay’s Facebook page.  A comment on one of Ebay’s marketing posts won't be answered, but comments posted directly on Ebay’s page will.

Forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but what evidence do you have that the account was fake? The fact that they didn't pay does not speak well for them, but a new buyer may not realize what they are doing. My point is that there are many new buyers out there with 0 feedback, and one cannot adequately discern the legitimacy of an account based solely on that. It would simply be wrong to judge buyers as fake merely because they have no history... yet.
