Please, report here if you recently within a week or so experienced sudden drop in sales. We can then ask Velvet to pass it on to technical team for review of the accounts. https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Updates-are-happening-to-some-item-specifics-and-category/m-p/...

May is kinda passe at this point, no? How about sales have dropped in the past week or day? What is really going on and what sort of perspective do those who are coming up with the search algorithm have? I've long since felt it is largely geared towards rewarding those with massive inventories who dropship out of warehouse, especially amazon prime. I've been criticizing the category changes and equating them to amazon and eastern thinking. I never sell anything east of Manhattan. It's as if products are being forced upon Americans because the potential for ebay profits are more sustainable. Is that right? Want to start tagging any account that doesn't actually have the items they're selling? I added a few print on demand item to see if they have any appeal. I have my doubts and will probably delete them . What about all the other sellers drop shipping out of warehouses? Wanna make a better their sales would plummet if buyers knew they didn't actually possess the item? Online if you view a video it tells you if it's coming from another country. Put a disclaimer on listings that come from warehouses. I clearly indicate if something is made to order. What are you afraid of ebay?

Too short a period for comps.
You would have to compare to the same week last year. Or better the same month and in 2019 before the pandemic surge in online shopping.
The surge ended abruptly in January 2022.
And the stockmarket reports for online businesses inQ1 and Q2 show that. It's across the industry, not just eBay.

If you mean the seller owns the product, but ships from a different location, there is no reason for the buyer to care.
Many Chinese sellers were warehousing in the USA. The advantage to the buyer was that any import fees had already been paid and shipping was US -standard, whether the seller used USPS or a courier like UPS.
The problem is dropshipping, where the seller has no control over pictures, description, packaging, or shipping. If the supplier runs out of the product, the seller doesn't know that until the order goes unfilled.
EBay does require sellers to state the location of the product (because import fees and shipping time) not his own, but I agree, many sellers either misunderstand or lie about this.

The only place I've seen it is on the opening page of the selling forum. Deals with changes in Categories and Item Specifics.

My views are still a row of zeros. I've been thinking about when this all started in the middle of May with the changes eBay made by eliminating bot views.
Found an interesting article which offers an explanation for the changes they made in 1999. It's really old but I'm curious if it's still relevant today.

WOW! I did not know this...this is why sales are floundering?!

Don't get involved with any ebay research, mess with your account as they will only screw with it and make it worse! The less you ask eBay to get involved the better. If your sales are in a downward spiral try other sites, but never get eBay involved in your business!!

It is relevant still... this article while good, doesn't explore the real reason behind ebay blocking these bots... and that reason is, in order for ebay to collect maximum profits on Promoted Listings - they found they HAVE to block bots. Auction Bots would bypass ebay sponsored listings, keeping the cheapest of the items searched above higher priced items. Ebay didn't like the fact that bots were directing sales to non-sponsored listings. That is basically why ebay "blocked" auction bots, the reason they provide in things like said article or to ebay members to "better the accuracy of actual views" was always a load of crud. Not to mention that bot views are actual views, they are actual views brought from auction bots though and ebay doesn't like that, say this hurts their customers etc... lol, well ebay on the flip side of blocking these bots also lost them millions in sales (and the sellers too).

@ci1000 those are category changes, not the seller update...knew about these changes months ago, and they don't affect my categories either. I mean the actual seller update, was suppose to be out by now - so where is it?
