Strange situation: Buyer pays item then closes account

Hello:

This is the first time I see this in 15 years of selling items online. I get an order from a new account which, according to eBay, has been paid for. I went to take a look at the profile and get an "account has been closed" message. Seems like a possible scam. Has anyone seen this one?

I have had customers accounts closed after the sale.

As long as I have been paid, I treat it like any other sale and ship the item.

maybe they opened an account just to buy your item? not knowing they could have done so as a guest?

does eBay say it is OK to ship?

Has payment cleared or is it pending?

Buyers don't just close active accounts, eBay gave them the toss, expect a message from eBay either telling you the transaction has been cancelled or asking if you have already shipped.

I was thinking of waiting for the "we have sent your payout" message. If I don't get it, I'll see what information I can get.
