Starting selling limits

Hi guys,

need your help. I have just started on ebay, setup my selling account yesterday. I am trying to put my first listing but the system shows that i currently, you can sell up to 0 items per month, and your total monthly sales can be up to $0.00.

have you faced such an issue before? is it common for starting sellers? what should i do?

this is extremely frustrating

thanks

Hi! Welcome to the community! Sorry to hear you've hit a bump. From my experience, new sellers are often given very low numbers to begin with. Some are allowed to sell 5 items for a total of $500 a month, others are getting to sell 10 items a month. New seller limits are a test. Ebay wants to know how well a new seller handles himself and his business. It is a time to show your professionalism. This probationary term is normally about 3 months before another increase is given, and then after that, raises happen monthly.

However, that said, I haven't heard of zero limits. I suggest you call eBay customer service and inquire about your selling limits. If there is some missed step, they can help put you on the right path. Please come back and give us an update on your progress. By the way, what items will you be listing? I don't know if the category you are using could be an issue here, or the item itself. It would help to know. Below is more information on new seller limits in the link. Best of luck to you in your business!

My ebay > Summary > Account > Seller account

Do you have an Automatic payment method specified to pay your ebay fees?
Do you have a Backup payment method specified?
Is your business or premier Paypal account linked to your ebay account?
Did you register your bank account?

Those are the only things I can suggest right now.

Thanks,

I know about the periodic increase in limits. I also know it starts with some limit, but not Zero.

The category I'm listing in is Home & Garden, which should not be a problem.

Bank account not needed as far as I know as it's with PayPal (that may change next year when the new payment system starts).

Check this as well

eBay IS quite glitchy at the moment so anything is possible, if things don't change in say the next 10 hours you should probably give eBay a call.

Help & Contact at the top of the page, scroll to the bottom for the Call Us link, if you see it the "call back" link is usually pretty fast

Same here with the backup payment method. Can't figure it out.

Although, I noticed when logging into my paypal account that they require credit card confirmation, and that after I done so it will raise my limits.

This could be connected to our issue. Haven't realy worked out yet, but worth a check.

see,Ebay cares MORE about seller if he is a scammer or does he really have the merchandise than getting its fee.

someone just burst onto the scene and start selling, what does Ebay know about him, what do buyers know about him?

In a brick and mortar store, customers can walk into the store ,pick up the goods, paid and leave with the goods, but in cyberspace,he pays and wait for you to ship, there is risk there.

No this is not a problem.  Sellers do not have to have feedback before they start selling.

The most likely problem (as suggested above) is that there is something about the account that is not set up properly: (a) the information entered may be incorrect, or not verified, or not approved, or (b) you are being associated with a banned account.  If you think everything is correct, then you would just need to call customer service to see what you are missing.

(It is also possible that there is a glitch in the account set-up ... we've been experiencing a lot of software errors this past month).
