Spring Seller update, new starter store-anyone interested?

Is anyone thinking of switching to the starter store? I just closed my ebay store after all these years and ending some listings, as I wasn't selling enough. I think the new starter store might be interesting, just wondering if it will help me  any....

Opinions?

I'm tired of juggling three stores lol

Correction - not three stores, three accounts (one store, two non-stores)

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Lots have not worked well for us, but it's an idea.

Nope.Nope.Nope. I shut down my stores almost a year ago. I get enough promotions from them, I’m good. If they want my money they will earn it! No more paying more in monthly fees than I’m bringing in. My prices are reasonable and I have decent items in my stores (for those who are into what I sell)

I’m gonna use it month to month until I get rid of most of my stuff then I plan on leaving at least as a seller. Already finding alternatives

TRS-Plus is a listing status, not a seller status.  You can be a TRS and have long handling times or no returns on specific listings without endangering your TRS status.  Having a separate non-TRS account makes sense if you have items that will ship without tracking (e.g., as First Class letters or flats).

Closing a Store is easy; it takes just a few clicks: Go to My eBay > Account tab >Subscriptions and end the subscription.  If you have a full year's subscription, then there will be an "early termination fee" (ETF)  if you cancel before the final month of the subscription.  However, eBay is waiving all ETF's for sellers who downgrade or cancel their Store subscriptions during the month of May.

@partial*eclipse

Yeah, I know.  I did say TRSP.  I should've said " TRSP listings" and not "TRSP account" and mentioned the Free Returns thing and longer handling time.  TRS can do all of that but TRSP listings cannot.

I should be more clear though because so many are actually unclear about it.

I upgraded to a premium store at the beginning of February and my sales doubled for the month. I'm pretty happy with that.

Re: Spring Seller update, new starter store-anyone interested?

I currently have a Basic store and I do not intend to list 250 (or whatever it is) items/month.   If, by some wild chance I actually do, it will be for items that will most definitely cover the listing fee.

I certainly, in a total winddown phase, can't say the increased cost to stay at that Basic level is worth it.

Amendment:

Geez, I hate when this happens.  Our My Stuck In House During Windstorm Project actually happened - unload and then wallpaper the backs of the three huuuuuuuge bookcases in my cozy tv room.  Add a pop of color and all that.

I'm now in the process of putting things back and culling the herd.  I thought to self, hmmmm self, maybe you should look up a few of these books.  Yep, so far found one of them  in the $500-$1000 range.  Others aren't that much but are worth listing, especially if I have never looked at them.

So, guess I'm not done with research and new listings after all.  grinning

PS - While searching using "Wolf Kahn Catalogue", I got Jerry Garcia/Grateful Dead photos.   They have so much in common.  <---mega sarcasm font

Re: Spring Seller update, new starter store-anyone interested?

I will open the starter store on my 3rd account.

If eBay had done what everyone with a Premium store wanted, I would be upgrading to the store betweem Prem and Anchor on TWO account. Instead, I am staying at Prem and paying them no extra money for those stores.

I am an eBay supporter, but they really screwed that one up...

@mg152

So that's what I need to look into, although this has always been a side income. I have a part time job. I got a promoton which is keeping me more busy, so if stuff is not movng here, its not worth my effort and time

We have not yet seen how easy or difficult it might be to open & shut a store, that matters.

It's really easy, I do both a couple of times a year.  Just get it closed before the first day of the next month, otherwise you're on the hook for another entire month.  On the sign-up end, they pro-rate the fee to the exact day you opened it.

(Check all the fine print, because that's how it worked prior to the update, and they have a bad habit of changing the details of things without notifying anyone of the change other than the fine print.)

Re: Spring Seller update, new starter store-anyone interested?

Ok, I admit I didn't read every response.... because... well I am just too lazy...

You get 50 more listings, Markdown manager and vacation.... the way I always figure it is.... if you can't get a lot more then $5 dollars in profit a month, from twice as many listings and added selling tools.... maybe you shouldn't be selling to begin with..... so if you are contemplating a starter store and are going to use it fully, it easily should pay for the expense.... if you don't want a store then you shouldn't pay for it..... seems easy....

I go with the monthly subscription..... and there are times I have cancelled, lowered or raised the subscription.... easy peasy

I don't think I will use the starter store.... mostly because I don't plan on "startering", maybe if I was to start another ID with a focused theme I might, but no plans of doing that at this time.....

If you put "Wolf Kahn" in quotes maybe you would get different results.

John KAHN was a bass player who played with Jerry Garcia for about 25 years on most of his non-Grateful Dead Recordings and solo tours.

Bottom line, "Kahn" has a lot in common with both Wolf Kahn and Jerry Garcia!

Back to the starter store, I'll likely pick one up for one of my lesser id's, in the past I've had to end listings on those id's when I've put my main one on Vacation. I might even start up a new id for that purpose, one can never have too many TRS selling id's.

Re: Spring Seller update, new starter store-anyone interested?

jimmy, I did skim the descriptions of the Jerry Garcia listings to try to find the reasons why and I don't remember seeing "Kahn"; I'd look again but then I'll really be on the Dead mailing list, lol.
