Is anyone thinking of switching to the starter store? I just closed my ebay store after all these years and ending some listings, as I wasn't selling enough. I think the new starter store might be interesting, just wondering if it will help me any....
Opinions?

Starter store is basically just additional 50 BIN listings at 10 cents a pop, at the expense of free auction listings and, most likely, any fre listings promotions. Also, no shipping supplies coupons and and no reduction FVF. So, I think it's a hard pass.

FYI, the final value fee rate for the Starter subscription is 10%, not the regular discounted Store rates.
And they won't get the quarterly coupon for the branded eBay shipping supplies; but that's no great heardship since the quality and variety have declined.

The 100 free insertions for starter stores can be used for either format. The original release of the information had an errror in the info table, but it has been fixed.
Also, the Starter store will have the other tools and advantages of regular stores, including vacation settings and Markdown Manager.

Starter store is for 100 free any type listing. However, Auction with BIN has a fee with a store. Also, scheduling a listing has a fee for stores.
I think it's a good idea for some. It can be a huge benefit for those with PWE items, different items from their normal line, or for those to use (or not use) as their non-TRSP account (longer handling/no free returns) thing.
Vacation Settings and Markdown Manger are included and worth the expense.

Besides Categories, the only reason I have a store is to use MM and vacation settings so yes, they're special.
Am I missing something in my mathings? I fully intend to go to the Cheap Store ($4.95/month) and stop paying the $24.95 or whatever it's going to be for Basic. I'm downsizing my number of listings and the difference between 9.15% on FVFs vs 10% is certainly less than $20.
There. Is. No. Way. I'm going to do anything other than month to month, but I changed to that quite some time again.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the categories too!!
The $4.95 is a yearly contract. It's $7.95 month to month. But for $60 a year, that's not a hard risk to take for the year's subscription.

We would need to know what size store you closed, how many listings you are downsizing from, and how many you are downsizing to.

Thanks for the cost correction; shows you how much attention I've paid to my personal future on ebay. To me, lol, the $36/year is well spent to just sayonara sashay my way out the door at any time. That year's commitment thing makes me feel so itchy.
In response to lucky, I currently have a Basic store and I do not intend to list 250 (or whatever it is) items/month. If, by some wild chance I actually do, it will be for items that will most definitely cover the listing fee.
I certainly, in a total winddown phase, can't say the increased cost to stay at that Basic level is worth it.

So glad you asked this, we have been watching the community for this discussion. We have thought about it, but right now are undecided.
We have, through trial and error, while taking advantage of free listing promotions, that to have steady sales, we need approximately 120 + items up.
That takes quite a bit of effort, selling small dollar items.
Ebay gets about 20% of total selling price, with the fee on shipping, often more.
We would not sign up for a year, changing policies can have too big an impact, sometimes completely unexpected. We have not yet seen how easy or difficult it might be to open & shut a store, that matters.
Summer sales last year were almost nonexisitant, so paying for that seems to make no sense.
We are no longer buying for resale.( the fun part!) I can work all week on ebay, granted, when I want, how much I want, or, I can babysit one long afternoon and make the same amount of money. Neither is an ideal choice. I don't feel lke paying more for the privilege of working on eBay.
markdown manager offers nothing, I set my prices fairly, if I want to reduce prices, I just do it. Don't know if saying an item is 15% off really increases sales.
Same with vacation mode. With the money we make on ebay, we are not exactly traveling. In an unexpected emergency, such as a hospitalization, one of us can end everything, if it's bad enough emergency, as a seller I purchased from recently, a sudden death, like everyone else, it's beyond thought, vacation mode or not.
And remember, as another posted, it's just 50 more than the free fifty now (until that changes, and it could) I believe that is 16 cents a listing vs what will be 35 cents. Since many things are listed for months before a sale, that could cut deeply into any profit.
A seller had a breakdown about Betsy recently here.. If one is selling vintage, as most of our things are, I believe their listing price is 40 cents for 3 (or4?) months. Not as many photos available, but that is cheaper (few pennies, but with margins so thin, all is a consideration) )than a starter store. And it appears they are getting better prices for vintage, although sales may be slower as well. Do not know what commitment they require.
We have not opened a micro PayPal account, hoping to get above that amount(hasn't happened ), but that might not be available with the new payment company. We also have not opened another ebay account. that could be a better option.
Anyway, we are down to pennies, and not enjoying it. Three years ago, there were 100 free every month. Half were auction, but we were still having some success with them. There was also 3times the ebay bucks as now, and that has cut our buying. There was also a Paypal credit card that gave a boost.
And shipping plus the fee has cut sales and profits drastically. Seems many if not most are scrambling for light weight items to sell. Goodbye pottery, Corning wear & much glassware.
Any other sellers help is appreciated here also. Thanks in advance.

I am actually thinking of bumping up my second account to a starter store, then letting my third account go and just use it for overflow. I'm tired of juggling three stores lol
It would be worth the few dollars a month just to make my life a little easier.

I actually was considering it, because the 50 that I get free monthly isnt enough.
I have another store with 1000 and this store with the 50. I'm thinking of downgrading my store with the 1000... again. I had the 2500 (which is the 10,000.00 now) and I downgraded because the sales was decreasing every month, now I'm having the same issue with the 1000.00.
I believe that I should start over fresh, with new listings, photos etc., so I think the 100 would be a good solutuion. I also never get additional fee listings anymore.
