Something not right

I have a few items i recently sold and about a day after i get a message from the buyer saying they want to cancel because they did not place the order. This has happened 3 different times. Are there alot of hacks getting into people's accounts or getting into Ebay and ordering things on someone else's profile?

Re: Something not right

1. You can just cancel as 'buyer requested cancellation' - no defect  or default to you or the buyer

2. You can wait the 4 days and cancel as 'buyer did not pay' - buyer gets a strike, no defect to you

Depends on the buyer/s feedback - check for retractions, FB left for others to get an idea on what kind of buyer you are dealing with.

Re: Something not right

I have been waiting the 4 days, letting e-Bay cancel and insuring the Buyer gets the strike.

Being patient means these folks who bid or make best offers with no intent to pay have consequences for same.

Good luck, be safe.

@katzrul15 is correct. Wait 4 days, and if you do not receive payment, cancel the order. Then block the buyer so that you won't have to deal with him again.

Re: Something not right

While your not required to, I would cancel the order. Be sure to choose the buyer requested when you do so. It won't harm your account.  If you were to make the sale, you can expect a false not as described case to be filed to return it on your dime.  So, it's the wise thing to do. You can never make such a buyer happy forcing a sale.  Place them on your blocked bidder list too.

Re: Something not right

are your setting to leave feedback when you get paid??

If so this is the reason: they pad their feedback by purchasing and getting users to  cancel.

A nice big positive for their time any you are out time  and money...

Re: Something not right

You don't cancel the order - E-Bay does.

If you cancel it, they will not receive the strike.

@katzrul15 ,

Really? eBay cancels the order after 4 days? I’ve waited 4 days and eBay has not canceled the order.

@eye_of_the_tiger   If you have INR cancellations set to automatic then yes, AFTER 4 days eBay cancels.  You can have this set so you can manually cancel AFTER the 4 days if you want to give a Buyer more time.  It is ONLY automatic if you set it up that way.

@eye_of_the_tiger

Check your settings.  You can have eBay auto cancel after 4 days, our you can auto set the number of days.  You can manually cancel on day 5 or more.

Re: Something not right

@ittybitnot ,

Thank you for the help, but the only number of days before eBay cancels the order automatically is 30 days? And I don’t see how it eBay gives the buyer an unpaid item strike. Thanks for the help.

I see options of 4 days up to 30 days in the drop down menu when I checked my settings.
