So I'm sending out offers to buyers, and I made a mistake with one of them. It was pretty obvious that it was a mistake, 80% off a silver coins (so basically the buyer is getting an ounce of silver for $5, you'd have to be visiting from Mars to not realize I didn't do that on purpose).
That's all fine, I made a mistake, I'll honour the sale, no problem. I tell myself I will never learn from my mistakes if I keep bailing myself out of trouble with excuses and rationalizations.
So the buyer accepted the offer... but THEN... he writes a long "rant" type of eBay message telling me how wonderful I am, how much I must appreciate him as a customer (he's never bought from me before), how it's the greatest gift he ever got, what a generous person I am, and how he'll treasure the coin forever. (Insert finger into mouth right about now...)
OK, I get it that I made a mistake, the buyer accepted the offer, and not shipping can mean bad feedback or worse, a defect.
There's no need to write all of that knowing I made a mistake and probably feel pretty bad about letting a $27 coin go for $5... Just pay for the coin and shut your mouth. None of that noise was going to change how I proceeded with the sale after he paid.

IMO the sellers complaint is silly. Since the actual message isnt provided we are left to take his word and impression the buyer was rubbing it in. If all this is about hurt feelings for ones own mistake some perspective is in order it was very noble for him to honor the offer.
I was expecting the thread to turn to the buyer pestering the seller to repeat the deal, a legit complaint.

I know you didnt say that sellers arent more important. im stating sellers arent more important and i disagree that they are both equally important. my snap judgement as you put it seems pretty validated in my eyes. what is the point of bringing this to the attention of other people? op could of just moved on without posting anything. what are other sellers going to offer to this topic? there just quite simply was no point of bringing this to anyones attention. no issue was brought up other than op felt the buyer was rubbing salt in the wounds and had no real reason to feel that way. did i miss anything?
Again, you seem to think that buyers and sellers are equal. i do not think so. people will always have stuff they want to sell, but there will never always be buyers. did i clear that up for you?
I never said any seller on here said they felt they were doing anyone a favor. I was referring to sellers in general, and their attitudes. Acting like they are doing buyers a favor by selling to them. not specifically here on this thread. Did i clear that up for you?
And finally, i do in fact NOT need selling experience on this particular subject, because this is not a buyer/seller issue. this is a personal issue with the op. sellers, as you mentioned dont have access to the message, so i can chime in on this because im from the buyers perspective. what selling experience do i actually need for this particular topic and subject? the title of the post is 'some people have no class'
where the op calls a message thanking her and telling her how wonderful she is a 'rant' so, what selling experience do i need for that?
am i making assumptions of all sellers? i would say to an extent yes i am. however, the sellers that are reasonable dont take offense to my posts. its the greedy ones that dont like what i have to say. nothing i can do for them.

Because while your opinion is important, so is everyone else's. The OP has the right to post what they see as what is happening on a transaction they had, just as you have the right to post yours. You too could make the decision to just move on and not post. Each of us have the right to make that decision for ourselves.
Dang you have such a way with words! 🤣 Buyers simply would not have much fun shopping here if sellers weren't selling. And just because people have things they may want to sell does not mean they will be coming here to do so.
Great so now you feel your experience has shown you what the "attitude" is about sellers in general on Ebay. I'm not touching that as we have already taken too much space on this thread with our conversation IMHO.

i do have a way with words. you are right about that at least. I could move along but then that would make the ebay community useless because thats what people come here for...for people to chime in. right? you are right, they may not sell here, but someone will. All the sellers that have that yard/garage sale that dont get rid of everything, they will come here to the open arms of the buyers looking for those nick knacks...(at the right price) I have been around long enough to see the change from what ebay was to what it has become so yeah, i do feel my experience has shown me the new attitude of sellers. I can safely say there used to be more reasonable sellers back in the early 2000s than now. I remember when i used to be able to buy stuff off of here with a money order. that was the time when ebay sellers were happy to just get paid and ebay buyers were happy they got the item and didnt get scammed, and the prices were accurate and not inflated because of market manipulation...but that is a whole other topic. yes we have taken up quite a bit of space with our verbal judo match.

You think that your participation is what makes the community worthwhile?
I wasn't talking about you leaving the forums, it was just not pirating this thread. You may consider starting your own on the appropriate board, you have several to choose from.
