Some help needed w/an explanation of the requirements of Guaranteed Delivery.

I think I have a misunderstanding of this program and would like some information please.   

Per the stated policy on the site it is suppose to apply to listings with a 0-1 day handling time.

On my listings I have 2 day handling yet Guaranteed delivery appears on some if not all of my listings yesterday, today I don’t see it.  On another account the listing have a 3 day handling time and it is showing on all of her listings, which is presenting an issue as these guaranteed delivery target dates are being missed. 

So if the written policy is wrong we need it corrected.  Or is there an application of this program that I'm not aware of. 

 

After some testing on the listings on another account, if shipping is separately stated, the Guaranteed Delivery statement goes away.  It appears to be only showing on Free Shipping listings even with a 3 day handling time. 

It also does not seem to be considering handling time when calculating the ETA dates at all.  Well not the handling times stated by the seller on the listing.  I have a 2 day handling time, the other account has 3 days, yet each of our listings coming from roughly the same place show the same ETA.   

 

A purchase today on the other account would have until Wednesday the 24th to ship [3 day handling], yet the ETA due to Guaranteed delivery states delivery would be the 25th.   Oh and I should add that on both accounts I use Standard Shipping which is 1-5 days per Ebay’s schedule of options.  So clearly Ebay is not considering handling time in determining if the listings qualify for Guaranteed Delivery OR in the ETA dates.  Both are HUGE ISSUES!

 

I’m aware that when I view a listing that the ETAs stated are based on the zip code in which the account I’m viewing the listings with along with the listings location. 

 

So what am I missing?  Did something change?  Or is this a glitch that needs some immediate attention because of the serious ramifications this can have on affected sellers.  Both their stats and their selling account health.

Correct me if I am wrong but a purchase on Friday, with 3-day handling would need to ship Tuesday. 


It would be Wednesday.  It is 3 business days.

Standard shipping is only shown as 1-5 days if you are using the generic standard shipping in your shipping info. The first class estimate is 2-3 days and is based on zip code.  if you use flat rate and the generic standard shipping, I don't think that they can guarantee the delivery date but I'm just guessing on that part.


Depends on what item you look at.  My fragrances come directly from my supplier located in a different state.  All my pattern books and craft supplies are shipped from my home in Washington.

I'm having exactly the same problem.  Sold an item yesterday.  Had until 4/24 to ship.  Guaranteed delivery 4/25.  Never going to happen!  But the other problem is this wording in the shipping section of the listing...

 

* The delivery date is not guaranteed until you have checked out using an instant payment method. If your Guaranteed Delivery item isn’t on time, you can (1) return the item, for a refund of the full price and return shipping costs; or (2) keep the item and get a refund of your shipping costs (if shipping was free, get a $5 eBay voucher). Attempted delivery on or before the guaranteed date will be considered a timely delivery.See Details

 

If a buyer opts to return a free shipping fragrance, we immediately lose our original shipping cost of $5.95 and have no way to recoup it.

Are you seeing a guaranteed date when you look at your perfumes using a zip in that state?

You don't have to enroll.  EBay opts you in automatically for listings that qualify.

That would also be the case if the listing was not Guaranteed. eBay's estimated delivery dates are part of the description and when the estimate is missed it is considered a SNAD to eBay.

I do understand that, however I see that as completely unfair.  If I do exactly what I say I'll do in my listing, 2 day handling, and the item arrives late due to Ebay's desire to give a buyer false hope, I'm the one left to fix the issues that may arise with the buyer.  I'm the one that will have to take a hit financially because Ebay CHOOSE to ignore my stated handling time.  If Ebay wants to take on the financial burden 100%, I'll take no issue with it.  But until they do, I have a problem with their inaccurate numbers.

But that’s a risk you take just taking returns and having free shipping.  Even without guaranteed delivery your buyer can say well I didn’t arrive when I wanted it to and return it... the option of a $5 voucher instead might reduce that risk actually.

Are they going to add a reason that buyers can select when filing a Request for Return?

I wouldn't mind the program as long as Ebay didn't take liberties with the ETA dates.  They should be considering the STATED handling time and they type of shipping service as set in the listing.  If they stuck with that, I would like it better.
