Some Guidance on Choosing Store Level Based on Fixed Price now being GTC

As you move up in store levels, you pay an increasing monthly fee, gain more “free” fixed price listings, and get a reduced price for additional fixed price listings. So at what point does it make sense for you to make the jump to the next level?

@mr_lincoln did such a nice job pointing out the GTC double-billing issues, that I thought I'd use some spreadsheet skills to help people choose what level of a store subscription they may want now.  (of course, the double-billing is still an issue... unless eBay resolves that!)

Before Forced GTC, you might actually have wanted a higher store level based on the number of fixed price listings you would submit in a month. For someone running 7-day fixed price listings... you might rotate through your inventory four times in a month. Now, with fixed price listings being forced to run as GTC, you may want to reexamine your store level. Using a spreadsheet (which is way too large to post) I calculated at what number of fixed price listings it makes sense to bump up to the next level. Please note... these calculations ONLY take into consideration the store subscription fees and the listing fees for the number of Fixed Price listings you are running. It does not included the added benefits you might get from stores of additional auction listings, the slightly-reduced FVFs, shipping supplies coupons or promoted listing credits. I have provided guidance for those wanting month-to-month stores and separate guidance for those wanting annual plans (although, if eBay keeps pushing these kinds of changes... I'm not sure why anyone would want to commit to an annual plan, especially since the savings are minimal!)

Monthly Subscription Plans

0-72 FP items listed - No store is the least expensive option

73-166 FP Items listed -  Starter Plan is the least expensive option

167-437 FP Items listed - Basic Plan is the least expensive option

438 - 3749 FP Items listed - Premier Plan is the least expensive option

3750 - 62999 FP Items listed - Anchor Plan is the least expensive option

63,000+ FP Items listed Enterprise plan is the least expensive (but you have to switch to a Yearly subscription)

Annual Subscription Plans

0-64 FP Items listed - No Store is the least expensive option

65-146 FP Items listed -  Starter Plan is the least expensive option

147-402 FP Items listed - Basic Plan is the least expensive option

403 - 3400 FP Items listed - Premier Plan is the least expensive option

3401 - 63999 FP Items listed - Anchor Plan is the least expensive option

64,000+ FP Items listed Enterprise plan is the least expensive

I hope this helps people make store decisions as they choose to upgrade/downgrade after Forced GTC is implemented.

Another option is what I'm doing. Move some items to other platforms where they are better suited. Keep your existing store and open an extra account or two and get 50 free listings. With a basic store and 2 other accounts - I'll have 350 GTC listings running here and 200 on another venue where I only pay $40 for 4 months of exposure. Way less than an upgrade. Plus I'll still have the option of doing 250 10 day auctions with a BO option - where I can set the price I want for the item.
