Sold Listings On Google Search

I buy and resell on EBay. Does anyone know how long the listings popup on Google image search after they have been sold? It’s really annoying to see sold items pop up after purchase if you are trying to resell that item to someone else. People can just search and see exactly what you paid for that items especially if it’s unique and one of a kind.

Re: Sold Listings On Google Search

The Google bots that crawl eBay can find those sold listings as long as they remain visible on eBay which should be 90 days.

If a buyer has access to Terapeak (generally only available to sellers) then the sales history is searchable for 3 years.

Depending on the item there may be alternative sites (eg: Worthpoint) where the basic information on the selling price could be available for the next 50 years!

I’ve been contacted about items that were sold years prior. I sometimes see my photos being used on other sites like Worthpoint (is that still a thing?).

It’s always a little jarring to get one of those messages out of the blue…

If you are using unique photos I don't see why it should be an issue.  You also might not want to buy from the same account as you sell, especially since feedback from a buyer will show up in your feed and that will often list the item and price you paid.

If a buyer is interested in one of your items, it really only matters what they are willing to pay.

Re: Sold Listings On Google Search

I've only had 1 buyer so far directly point out my purchase and purchase price of the item I was re-selling. I had listed it about a week after the end of the original auction i purchased from. It was a relatively scarce item with a clear and visible serial #...

Otherwise most people are and will remain none-the-wiser... but I'm always waiting for the next instance to occur as I have anoter couple fairly scarce/obscure items currently listed that could be very easily noticed...

Anyone asks, I politely let them know it's none of their business, and my asking price is the fair market value and they are either willing to pay it or not. They must realize every reseller (hopefully) bought the item much cheaper than they are reselling it for ... just in these cases it was available to the buyer previously on the same platform for a much lesser price and now is offered at a higher price.

I've seen eBay items on WorthPoint that were over a decade old.  Not lately though.
