Often I'll use the Sell Now option on an existing auction to create a draft. Often these have multiple selections for an Item Specific. For example, selling a book: the Topic option may say: Art History (+3), and if you click the down arrow there will four topics checked. Using the Ctrl key, one can select and deselect multiple topics.
But I can't do this for any other Item Specific (eg Subject) unless the original auction already had it. No check boxes are shown and there is no way to select multiples. So if I create an auction from scratch, there is no way to select more than one Topic.
Any ideas?

It depends largely on the category the item is listed in. In Books, for example (the area I'm most familiar with), if you list under the subcategory Books you will be able to select multiple options, but if you list under the subcategory Antiquarian & Collectible you cannot. As for why that is the case, only eBay knows, but that is the only reason I've ever found for why sometimes multiple options are selectable for the Topic and similar Item Specifics, and not in other cases.

Hold the CTRL button down and you will be able to click multiple. If that doesn't work. List the specifics with commas . Ex White , Red, Blue

A lot of item specifics are single selection, not multi-selection.

No, that's not the case in many Item Specifics lists.

Thanks Jonathan. Yeah, that seems to be the issue and it was coincidentally the same subcategories that you mentioned which were giving me the two different options to select multiple or not!
