So a package was returned by Fedex. Sent it back to buyer and Ebay refunded buyer after. Am I SOL?

Basically, package was returned by Fedex for "weather" (**bleep**). An initial claim was closed in my favor since the package was "delivered" even if it was to me, since it was not my fault.

I'm honest, so I resent the package on 10/23/2024 at my expense through Ebay (so tracking was logged) and buyer was updated with new tracking #. Buyer called Ebay on 10/24/2024 and somehow appealed to convince Ebay I had agreed to give a refund, so Ebay refunds the buyer and says it is my fault (resulting in hundreds of dollars of fees charged). Buyer received item yesterday and sent a lovely message to say how wonderful it is but I'm currently out the money, the item, and in the hole a couple hundred bucks for fees and shipping.

I filed an appeal of the appeal with all the tracking info and pointed them to messages exchanged saying the item was received. How likely am I to prevail on that appeal?

Hope that your buyer is as honest as you are and will still pay you for it.

Otherwise, yes, you are SOL.

This is a situation where Ebay really needs to look at this. I would be on the phone with them and explain the situation. I would also tell the buyer the situation you are in with a reply back explaining in detail. They may be able to call Ebay as well and help get you the funds returned to you. 

One thing I would have done was when the package was returned to you I would have contacted the buyer and let them know the situation and find out what they want to do. That way they know the package was returned and is on the same page.

I called and spoke with someone who walked me through filing an appeal of the appeal. She tried to sound very sure about the process but I could tell she had no idea what to do. I asked why I could not speak directly to that department and they said it was a matter of escalation. I was given the same run around on a chargeback last year.

This doesn't really seem like the buyers fault outside that they took an opportunistic approach and got refunded.

Personally I would have issued them a refund and closed the transaction.

If they wanted to rebuy it I'd give them a discount off for the inconvience.

That way the new order wouldn't have tainted tracking.

It's always a gamble to resend something out and you are hoping for their honesty.
