I had a couple pairs of Converse fail due to markings on the soles. These were brand new from Converse but the soles were white and mark easily. Any nudge in the box and the soles mark from the box or the fabric from the other shoe.
Anyway, they both failed and they counted it as 2 defects as item and not as desribed and also 2 cases closed without seller resolution. I went from top rated to now having one foot out the door here at Ebay.
What is the policy on this? How can a factory flaw or a minor event be so catastorphic?
If anyone knows please advise? Thank you to the forum

The authentication programs, especially the sneaker one, seem to be having a few problems of late. While the programs were setup primarily to prevent the sale of counterfeit items the program has put in some obscure autentication rules that are not documented in the policy. Sellers have reported sneakers failing for minor box imperfections and minor production flaws/marks such as yours.
Unfortunately eBay contracts out to a third party authentication service but it appears there needs to be some discussion between eBay and the third party provide and some clarity added to the authentication policy.

Boy, don't know what to tell you on that, your the expert with sneakers not me. Was the scuff marks on the soles really that bad? Maybe you can protect these types of shoes in the future by wrapping them securely.
We've been hearing some real time problems with the authentication program, maybe you need to reach out to ebay on Facebook to discuss this problem.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and good luck.

Maybe another shoe seller is who you should contact directly? Not everything you buy to flip is going to be authentic. Were you there sewing the shoes at the Converse factory? I've been in the coin market for almost 48 years and have bought counterfeit coins from bad sellers in the past. Sometimes the fakes look very good.
On another topic, you might want to look at you store categories. You have "Shoes" and "Other". There are five pairs of shoes in the shoe category and all the other shoes are in the other category.
I sell used boots and sneakers once in a while and have Men's and Women's shoes in separate categories. That might save your potential customers some time.

Wow, it sounds like the "authentication team" is very picky and if an item is listed as new but has the tiniest of dings, they refuse it.
@jayjaspersgarage - From what the OP says, it doesn't sound like an authenticity issue but rather, a refusal based on condition.
IMO, this is absolutely crazy! They're sneakers, FTLOG! A ding on the sole?!

That's hearsay your honor. The authentication program is there to assure authenticity, right? We read these posts about designer purses and high end shoes as well as watches often enough that it casts doubt. The common reader knows nothing about the products the OP writes about. This is like watching court TV or something like that. At this point you might wonder if insider shoe swapping is happening. Then what?
Maybe the manufacturers need to send some test case shoes and purses through the authentication process to be sure the people making these decisions makers actually know what they are doing? Hopefully Nike and Converse and Gucci etc. are doing this on a random basis. It is upsetting to think we can't trust a program in place to protect the buyers as well as the sellers.

The eBay sneaker authentication program is no longer third party to eBay. eBay owns it, they bought the sneaker con authentication service in November 2021. I have been selling sneakers on eBay for over a decade and had my first issue because sneaker con says my shoes has dirt on them when they are brand new samples signed by the designers.

I'm having a similar issue that I can't seem to navigate around. My ex-wife bought my daughter a pair of "authenticity verified" Yeezy's for Christmas. She got them and wore them and felt that they were just too small. I put them up on eBay, they sold and were REJECTED in the authentication process for not being "as described" when I had clear images of dirty soles and even discussed the shoe condition in the auction. I contacted eBay with no resolution.
So I decide again to sell, adding more details around the condition of the shoes and now a SECOND time it fails authentication. Now I'm out over $30 in shipping charges and stuck with this pair of $250 shoes that I don't know how to sell. It's some total bull**bleep**. I'm really wondering if perhaps the first authentication should have failed. Perhaps they are fakes that just weren't caught the first time.
eBay is not responding and I see no way to dispute this authentication process. I don't even get ANY feed back as to why they are failing. It's a TOTAL miss by eBay. I'll never sell another pair of shoes through eBay. I've conducted 4-5 transactions through StockX without any issues.

Okay, eBay finally called to resolve. The issue apparently is that I listed the shoe as NEW when it should have been listed as PREWORN. So simple yet ZERO communication after both the 1st and 2nd failed attempts that this was the issue. In hind site it makes sense, but when listing I perceived them as new because they were new to me. So crazy that a simple drop down would cost me over $30 and 2 huge headaches. Just be careful that you're not doing something similar.

Lol I’m I disbelief right now … so my yeezy 700’s failed inspection, I’m really curious as to what the reason was….but eBay just told me that they basically can’t tell me why . I’m 100% certain these shoes came from adidas. I just can’t believe that this could even Happen… wow 😯. I was depending on that money too…. Welp that’s my luck … if it wasn’t for bad luck I wouldn’t have any Luck at all… 😂 though I am **bleep**… all I can do is laugh about this
