Slow sales discussion for sellers. Nov 2019. Will we get our Holiday Rush??

Well, my main problem, as I keep mentioning, is that my sales are in the dumper. They are down by 60% and it is the holiday shopping season, will we be getting our sales rush this year? It is looking more and more like this won't be happening.

Does Ebay want to keep us here, or do they not care? I'm a good seller, don't they want good quality sellers to make their site a great place to shop? How many other sellers are having slow to no sales this season? I see the board full of them. Would love to hear from other sellers about their experiences. If you’re doing well, please share your secrets. If you’re doing poorly please add your voice to this discussion. It does help when you know you aren't alone.

I’m following all their suggestions and more, constantly tweaking and updating, trying to chase down what works here. It is very difficult, when things keep changing. We’re trying to stay at Ebay because we believe this is a great place to sell. We just would love for it to work properly.

I am trying to get my sales kick started by taking some of the great suggestion that a few of the posters have given for Ebay and ended some items, waited a few days and then relisted them using sell similar. I did do the promoted listings again, which I don’t like at all, but I’m afraid that this is a necessary evil after reading what others have said. I listed a bunch of Christmas ornaments and I’ve added more free shipping to more of my listings. Maybe I'll try to list some more stuff today. So hopefully these things will help, whenever the site starts working properly again, that is. Still waiting …

It is hard to stay motivated, when you try everything and nothing seems to help.

I did start selling on another site (and actually got a sale today, yay), but of course I'm new and don't have a seller reputation like I do here on Ebay. I would much rather stick with where I have all my history and with what I am familiar with. It would be great if Ebay would please stop changing things and concentrate on fixing things instead, so we can get back to selling. We just want to love you again Ebay. No hate here, just frustration, major frustration. I would much rather be packing up boxes then writing on this board, believe me.

Slow sales discussion for sellers. Nov 2019. Will we get our Holiday Rush??

@greenbraindesign

November and December are always my busiest months to sell as well. It is very depressing seeing a day go by with absolutely no sales or a day with only one sale at this time of year. There is no way this site is running properly.

And you're right, the quality of the sellers is going down the toilet. Ebay seems to be favoring them. I look through solds of my same items and those sellers (who have higher prices) will have less then stellar feedback, meanwhile my item sits unsold.

Whatever is happening it is breaking down Ebay. So as many sellers that are leaving, that is just as many buyers, because we are all buyers. But once we leave, we won't be back to buy anything from a site that has treated us so poorly.

This day and age with so many online options, Ebay should be bending over backwards to keep us all happy. But what do we hear from them ...

Ebay needs to communicate with their sellers and FAST! Everyday I expect to hear what changes they are going to make to fix this mess but Nothing is what I get. The stock keeps going down and nothing but silence!

I saw on the technical board they closed the thread with “solved” and gave a “final update”. Guess everything is fixed now and this is as good as it is going to get?

Basically, the final update reads: GOOD LUCK! You're on your own now. Hopefully you can get through the holidays with some sales. Haven't fixed everything, but just enough to let you limp along. If you're still having problems, don't tell us till the end of January 2020.

At least that is how I read it. Nice! How can they close a problem thread when all the problems seem to still be happening? My sales still s*ck, the markdown manager is still not working and I can’t seem to reply to a message without having to reload it 4 times or more.

So, yep, luck that's all we are working with. So good luck to us all. So glad I'm paying a monthly fee for a store that isn't working. Great "partnership".

There has been so many changes to this platform which have been constant.  Look at the Seller News, also recent changes in Senior Management now.  Sad....Ebay just can't stop making changes which bring nothing but system glitches, etc.  I'm not selling much anymore on this platform.  I did enjoy it here, when I started.  Now...I'm filled with a lot of disappointment.  Oh well!

I’m responding to this, which comes off a bit dismissively snide.... a la if you don’t answer me you must not be serious about this discussion/these matters:

“I brought up just a few of those issues in the other thread, and you seemed interested at first but then didn't respond. It's completely fine and your right if you don't want to discuss about that topic. But I must say it really seems as if the truth of the issues are being dismissed simply so you could continue to driving your point home.”

You might be right on the CS conspiracy theory though. I’m thinking that might have been Sakic.

Right?! Like they mentioned in their "final" technical problem post - "...we will not make multiple updates and item specifics requirements simultaneously. We will instead make changes gradually so the flow on effect is not felt all at once by our sellers." Um, isn't this the way it should have been happening all along??

Don't pile on a bunch of new things, when you don't even know how it's going to effect everything else on the whole site. I truly think they don't test anything behind the scenes. Basically they throw things out on the site and wait for us to start complaining, which is definitely not working!

I could understand how you might take it that way based on this thread alone, but there's been a string of threads where you have been driving the same point you have here without taking consideration to the other information.

As a matter of fact, in response to the similar kind of comments you're making in this thread, I mentioned glitches that effect listings on an individual level. You had asked me for more information in those other threads, under the pretenses that you "wanted more info to focus some pressure on eBay". That was another time you hadn't responded after receiving the information. Yet you continued to drive that same point as if that conversation never happened.

So it's not being "snide" to you, it's being transparent about what actually happened. It truly does give the impression that it's a pattern and that facts will be dismissed to support that point.

And then now here again, as mentioned, you were driving home the same point you were back then, still dismissing that these things effect listings directly on the listing level, and saying it "effects us all the same"? When based on past conversations, it seems you're aware that it most certainly does not.

You said you hadn't responded to me in the past for the reason of "making comments" that I had never made. That couldn't actually be the reason in truth, because... I never said that. To claim that's the reason you never replied to me in other threads was completely fictitious. Is giving that type of impression not a textbook definition of snide...? The earlier comments to others fit the definition of snide as well, especially since those too misrepresented or flat out dismissed the facts, which only serves to make others look worse.

I agree, and oddly enough when I started chatting here I all of a sudden had three sales. Who can figure?

Lol - pretty sure I said right up front I’d gotten a bad impression and backed off a bit from dialog with you - but I was mistaken regarding who had said what

And, seriously, I’m a SpEd Middle School teacher heavily involved in reworking our department and bringing us into legal compliance with state and federal mandates... not to mention an unusually large caseload of emotionally disturbed students - if I don’t answer you, it’s because I’m asleep at only 6:30 pm.

The only rush on deck for eBay is the air rushing to fill the void left by the multitudes of sellers that have decided to call it quits and take our business elsewhere.

Doesn't Ebay care that this is happening? I guess we aren't very important in their eyes. They think for every one of these sellers leaving a new one will replace them. But what they don't understand is the sellers leaving now are experienced, good sellers and they are being replaced by sellers who may not have the same dedication to Ebay that we all do, having been here for years and years. This drives the quality of shopping down.

One of the most important things Ebay has left over Amz is that the sellers are directly working with the buyers and trying to make their experience here as pleasant as possible. Take that away and what do you have left? If quality sellers leave Ebay will not recover from that.

On a positive note I did sell 8 items yesterday! Of course today, there hasn't been one sale yet. I have a feeling today is going to be my day off? It would just be nice to stay open 24/7/365, that is my Christmas wish.

I've had 16 orders today so far and had about the same each day since Friday, but if you look at this ID I think it's only had 1 sale all month LOL

So it's hit and miss across IDs that's for sure.

They don't much care, sellers have come and gone since Ebay opened. But quality sellers is just as important to them in order to keep buyers purchasing. In any case, I do OK on Ebay, but it's common up and down sales is not enough to base a living off ebay alone. I sell outside ebay privately and do a lot of my monthly income from that but I am now going back to work part time for UPS likely, I have interview tomorrow anyways. Doing so because while I'm alright working for myself, yet I do not make enough to pay insane health care insurance cost as self employed and I can use the extra cash to actually save much more what I make selling instead of paying car payment everything else with my profits. It's the only way to gain upper hand and put myself in a better position a year from now where I'll then reevaluate where I stand. The real benefit to this is not having to stress as much on ebay, like said it's not enough to live on but with ebay I doing OK, just looking to do better and thus heading back to work.

The great truth is there isn't one
And it only gets worse since that conclusion...
...There is something about the rigid posture of a proper, authentic blind
As if extended arms reached to pass his blindness onto others.
