What The Heck is going on? Sales : One week pretty good , the next week practically nothing! I've been selling since 2009. Over 15 thousand items sold. Top Rated Plus Seller. I know what I'm doing, Apparently eBay doesn't. They say keep listing until sales break loose, Well I'm at about 500 listings and just sold 3 items over the entire weekend !! Sales sure as hell Haven't broke yet.
Yes, I've tried all types of promotions, And Sales and all the other tricks I've learned over the years and it's just throwing hard earned money away.
Talking to eBay about it is like talking to a dead skunk in the middle of the road. They just don't seem to care. No loyalty at all , even though I've stuck w/ them. Just feel like I have to vent. If anyone from eBay happens to see this, Please do YOUR job.
Thanks for listening !!

I do not think Ebay is failing with what they are doing at all. Under any other circumstance we should be selling about as much as prepandemic. We are somewhat close but should be doing a bit better. It’s people’s finances, credit cards at higher rates. Hard for them to buy.

People definitely aren't broke. There are multiple restaurants along the major street that the PO I use is on; whenever I drop packages off after work, the restaurant patios are always packed now that the weather is nice.

"Slow sales" returns 5000 threads.
"The economy" is always the excuse. I figure if people aren't buying from me, it's because I don't have what they want.

Same thing happens here, one week 15 - 20 items sold, and the next week nothing, not even a question.
eBay is just playing a game of throttling sales so not to lose new sellers and keep other sellers hanging around with some sales. I think eBay is at a loss of what needs done to generate more income. haha "They looked everywhere."

They think they can balance it out by managing traffic as they manage anything else, I think they will come to their senses at the end and get rid of all the non-sense.

Maybe a lot of people are also freaked out about the debt ceiling.
I could temporarily lose my SS benefits and a lot of other financial things "could" happen.
But how many people can afford not to receive their monthly check, or if it's delayed? Remember 2011.

Yep.
That's eBay's business plan.
Throttle sales so that there are no fees to be gained.
Brilliant.

That’s really scary stuff.

Yep, that cant be the plan that would be complete insanity.

Eating out may take a precedent over buying something else for some.

I have things that are on there for months with 0 views. And when I do a search for items, not very many show up and I know there is bound to be more of popular items than a couple of pages. Not much better when items are promoted either.

Truth always pops out, uncontrollably, with enough time.

Amen to that ! I agree wholeheartedly!

I hate to break it to you, but eBay agents can't magically increase your sales or force buyers to buy your stuff. It's better to not waste your time and their time so they can help people with issues that are within their control.

I've had very stable sales for 2+ years. And by very stable, I mean, like plus or minus 10 percent every single month. Week to week varies, but month to month always seems to average out.
That is, until about 4 weeks ago. In the middle of April, my sales ABRUPTLY fell off a cliff and have never recovered. Ebay's sales metrics say my 30-day sales are down 54% compared to previous month.
So SOMETHING is up (or more accurately, down), I just don't know what it is. I do know one thing though - ebay's search engine is in the worst shape it has ever been in my 20+ years using the platform. Then again, Amazon's is too. I've never before seen so much "bloat" in the results of items that very clearly don't fit my search terms. That can't be helping.
