Should I leave feedback for a buyer who was extremely rude about a late package?

I had an order that was ground transportation only because it had a lithium battery in the item, so delivery was expected to take the longer end of 2-5 business days. HOWEVER, the item kept going in circles and would leave a specific distribution center only to return to it 2-3 days later. I shipped this item August 19, 2024 and it was delivered September 6, 2024. So that is 18 days for delivery! (so I get the frustration) The buyer did request an "item not received" request on Aug 28th. In that request, they were very rude, accusing me of being a scammer and lying about talking the eBay customer service and USP, all while DEMANDING that I refund them immediately and worry about dealing with USPS and filing for lost mail AFTER I refund their money. I wouldn't do a refund because I wanted it to play out, especially after how rude he was, I definitely was not going to go out of my way to please him (quite the opposite).

So my question is....

Should I leave feedback saying how unpleasant this buyer has been and then block/report the buyer?

OR

Should I just block the buyer and report them to eBay?

OR

Should I just block them and move on?

 

The only reason I would want to leave feedback would be to hopefully deter other sellers from accepting an offer from this guy like I did. (had I looked far enough back I would have seen others complain about him in his feedback)

 

Oh and since the item was showed as delivered I have not heard from him, I was fully expecting him to return the item for one reason or another but he did not do that, and he has not left me any feedback either.

You should have not done all that back and forth.

 

That's an instant block and then handle the INR request by the book without additional messaging.

 

You can't leave negative feedback for the buyer and leaving positive feedback with a negative comment is a violation of policy.

 

What you do is block them and report their messages for abusive behavior.

Block them and move on.

 

Leaving negative comments is not allowed.  So there is no point in leaving bad comments as they could be removed and you would get slapped for doing it.

 

If the item not received case is found in your favor (seller) Any feedback the buyer leaves may be removed.

Sellers can't leave negative feedback. Just block the buyer and move on. Ebay will do nothing and if you leave a positive feedback with a negative comment Ebay will remove it. Look at it as this is part of the business. You will get rude buyers from time to time. Not everything is smooth as you know. The way you look at it the buyer received.

Leaving a false positive for a customer is an eBay violation and it will be removed.  In this life, we are going to run across rude and abstinent customers.  Suck it up and be professional, because that's what we as sellers are supposed to project & should be an important focus/behavior for all sellers.  Being confrontational, negative and aggressive only makes you look bad to future customers & could further hurt future sales on your behalf.  Don't do it.

Block, report, and move on. Don't give it any more head space.

I guess I thought that not responding would fuel the fire so to speak. I know id be mad if I had not received something and was getting no response from the seller. but I can also see where it is really not helpful. Thanks for the advise 🙂

I was not aware that leaving negative comments was/could be a bad thing, that seems crazy to me, but I guess it keeps the crazy to a minimum lol

Responding is fine.

 

But as soon as it turns inappropriate you block and report.

 

Them being frustrated and upset is understandable. But as soon as it turns inappropriate the more you respond back the more fuel you give it.
