So I thought ebay was going to charge me the 13.25% for selling a model train but they charge more than that. Are fees for model trains more?

Please make sure you take the time to read the link that @mtgraves7984 provided for you.
You have been selling occasionally for many years on Ebay. Are you saying you have never looked into how and what fees are charged to a seller? How did you get by so long without understanding this?
Ebay charges their FVF on the TOTAL amount received from the buyer. That includes for the product, shipping and sales tax. Prior to 2020 they did not charge the FVF on sales tax, but after they became our Money Processor, they did. PayPal charged their fees on the sales tax before that time.

So many passive aggressive questions. LOL
The classic 'Are you saying' rhetorical scold that answers itself by a follow up question that assumes I am not understanding something. What do you think I am not understanding?

You don't seem to understand eBay's fee structure.
Maybe if you provided more details we could clarify for you.

NOPE, just questions. Clearly you don't want to answer them, which of course is your right. But that doesn't make them any less valid or any kind of personal attack on you. They were simply questions. It is very curious as to why this comes up for you now, when you have been selling for years.
You came here to get your question answered, which has happened, but you take offense to anyone asking your questions. Really?
I can't answer or address your question to me about what is in your mind. How the heck would I know?

It was a simple question that needs no assumptions on what my understanding is of the fee structure. Does ebay charge more that 13.25% for selling model trains? Can you answer that specific question with a yes or no?

Check the chart that I linked. I would assume that your model trains falls under the first one: 'Most categories'. So... 13.25%.

Short, simple answer: No.

Was my assumption as well since I checked the chart before even listing the item.

Baloney, your post is a classic aggressive attack. I am not asking you to tell me what is in my mind. I asked you a simple question and your evasion is telling. You accused me of not understanding something with your 'question': "How did you get by so long without understanding this". So I ask again: What do YOU think I am not understanding since you make the assumption I am not understanding something?

I believe the reason she thinks you're not understanding something is because you said "they charged me more" when in fact they did not. That would lead most of us to believe you're not understanding something.

If you understand everything................... perhaps use the dropdown to request that the mods lock the thread so that no one will attempt to explain anything.
Also to reduce your angst in the future, perhaps just use the eBay "help & contact" located on most pages to get the official word from eBay to answer a simple question without them questioning you back to determine what you do not understand🤔

Yes, model trains do accrue 13.25% fees. Anything else?
