Shipping will be so delayed if you want to wait until you receive the funds from Ebay.....and then!!

Today somebody bought and paid.  Lucky I had the postage left in the ol Paypal account and the

buyer had good feedback, so I printed and shipped.

Now if it going to be five days or more before we see sales proceeds in our bank accounts,

why should we be inclined to "front the money" for the shipping.

Ebay doesn't seem to  care about inconveniencing sellers, so why not let the buyers see how much they care about them also!!

Good luck telling your buyers that, you'll be out of business in a month

When you sell item...EBAY immediately deducts fees & shipping costs (that money is HELD so you can print label).  When you print label....go to bottom of page and click box  to change to (MANAGED PAYMENTS).

Ship within your stated handling time . Pay with "Pending payments", no need to use Paypal, no need to wait beyond your normal handling time. Literally thousands and thousands of sellers are doing this, it isn't a problem.

You can choose to fund your shipping labels using your sales funds within eBay.

There is no reason to be fronting the shipping charges.

Pay for it using the pending funds.

When you go to buy a shipping label, scroll down the page, on the left side, change how you want to pay for the label.

The default is Pay Pal, change it to Pending Funds.

Have a great day.

You don't have to front the money at all. Just set your Shipping form to draw the postage from the buyer's pending funds (as was already pointed out in a previous reply: you will find the setting for that at the lower left corner of the Shipping form).

The funds themselves are not "pending;" it's the transfer to your bank that's pending. eBay already has the buyer's payment, which is why you can use a portion of it to purchase the shipping on-line.

Does ebay release the money if you Dont use ebay labels? Remember wherever you print your labels gets a small cut of the postage. So if ebay is forcing mp'ers to use ebay labels that ANOTHER bit of money going to ebay!

When you buy gas or groceries, do you think the money is in the station's or store's back account the moment you slide your card?  (Or flash the chip or whatever.)  It is not.  The card has run and the payment processor has determined that all is copacetic, and you leave with your gas or groceries -- even though the merchant still has the payment "pending" and will have it that way for hours or days.

Do you  buy anything on-line that has next-day or two-day delivery, and do you check credit card activity frequently?  I do both, and I find that I often have merchandise in hand while the charge is still "pending" on my credit card account for days.

It's the same with you, as a merchant   As soon as eBay says you can ship, you ship.  The funds for the shipping comes out of the "pending" payment amount.  Your buyer might even get the merchandise while payment is still "pending" in your account, and that is no problem at all.

If you take the time to read how Managed Payments actually works, you will find that you do not need to "front" the money for shipping.

If you don't use the money to pay for labels, it goes into your bank account.

As far as I know, if you want to use another label printing method, such as the USPS Online, or PirateShip, you will have to pay using whatever payment methods are accepted by those platforms. Since Managed Payments is not actually a payment method (like a credit card or PayPal), no, you wouldn't be able to pay using the pending payout.

It's your choice. You can use ebay labels and pay with pending payouts or paypal, or you can use another label printer and pay with a form of payment they accept.

I use ebay labels and pending payouts, but how to do labels is a choice each seller can make.

For me, I notice the payment is deducted immediately.  Meaning I can go on my account and see the debit there.  It's not "Pending" or any other verbiage, it shows as an accomplished transfer and the money is gone.  I'm not an accountant to be aware of these places books, but I don't have any reason to think it shows as a positive on their accounts just as quickly.

Major businesses aren't going to put up with waiting for days for their money to show up with the hope that it actually does like sellers do here under Managed Payments.  It's going to show up in minutes.  This is true when I've ordered from Amazon or any other place.  The transfer happened and wasn't "Pending" for more than minutes.  They aren't going to take "Oh we really really promise you'll get your money on Tuesday for a sale today.  Pinky swear!"  Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if "the big boys" on Ebay aren't putting up with Managed Payments like the rest of us are.

I see "pending" on virtually every CC purchase that I make. Wally, the grocery store, the gas station..............

Often the payment date showing on my statement is different than the day that I made a purchase. (and it isn't a "time zone" thing)

Maybe true for you.  Not true for me.  That's all I'm pointing out.
