eBay has a collection of Help pages about shipping:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipping-items/shipping-items?id=4077
As noted above, we can give more specific advice if you're more specific about what you're shipping. If it's a book, then that's very different from shipping a vase. Or a bicycle.
USPS Priority Mail automatically includes $50 insurance coverage at no additional cost. Their other services do not.

Really depends on the item, what are you selling?

Basically, you pack an item, weigh it, measure it and put those figures into the listing and choose which level of shipping you want to list......i.e. lst class, priority, etc. Ebay will automatically compute the shipping based on buyer's zip code, show it to them, charge that amount if they buy.
That assumes you are using USPS shipping.....there are others, but (to me) that's the easiest to begin on. USPS has automatic insurance with priority packages of $50.
There are other nuances........if the item is over $750, you need to insure it and get a signature (you pay, not the buyer).

There are countess videos on YouTube that cover the basics for new sellers on Ebay relative to shipping.

The Youtube videos can be very helpful. Just keep in mind that policies and prices do change every year, so that information could be obsolete. And some of them have errors from the beginning, even videos produced by eBay.
