I sold a set of books to a buyer in May. I hadn’t sold anything for a while so I let them I want to make sure with the shipping and everything was great and the address when I do ship something I leave a notation how I take photos of the items at shipping at Post Office and drop off, etc. I thought everything was fine. I even left him positive feedback. They haven’t left me feedback because they left me this message. Are they trying to scam me and returning the books because as far as I can tell, they said that they were happy with the item.
it seems that they were more offended by what I had said but in this message there’s a contradiction because first they say they’re happy with the items and then the next one says they weren’t supposed to get them so what do I do about this or nothing?

Sounds more like a skunk than a scam...
I think you spooked them.
If it were me...
I'd stop messaging them and, since they state they know buying/ selling online,
wait to see if you get a return.
Every customer is different...
I'd just leave them alone
especially if it is paid for.

I would do nothing unless he opens a case, if that happens, provide a return label, and refund after return. Maybe its not a good idea to keep telling your buyers that you take pictures of the items you ship at the post office. Those photos would not do you any good anyway, if a case was opened. Photos can be doctored, and Ebay does not see them as proof of anything shipped, or received.

Yeah, I haven’t even replied back. I was just done by this. I thought yeah I’m just gonna ignore him. I just wanted some validation on this 🙂 thank you

I do that because I’ve been scammed before by people. And I’ve been sending this message to everybody even on other selling platforms. I’ve never had an issue. They look at it as a safety precaution as well.

Yes, I agree they did pay for it and I assume they were happy. I left feedback for them, but they said the reason they hadn’t left it for me was because of this issue.
and I always leave that message regarding taking photos because I’ve been scammed before and I’ve left it on other buyers and other platforms. I’ve never had an issue with this before 🙂

They did say they were happy with the items and the shipping. So I don’t know other than they got offended what kind of review they would give me. I’m not too concerned about it at this stage of my life, but I don’t understand when you’re saying you’re happy with the items and the shipping but this one thing bothered you and you want me to send you a label to return the items. But I will leave it alone 🙂

I think it was pretty nice that they didn't put that as negative feedback...

Your FB is at 100%, so I assume they sent you a message about "this one issue". What was the "one issue"?
BTW, all that photographing of the package etc is a complete waste of time. If/when any buyer opens an INR case or an NAD case, you will be required to handle it appropriately, no matter how many pictures you take.
Have you read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers?

So the buyer felt you were suggesting they might be dishonest when you informed them about the pictures, etc (which BTW mean nothing to eBay if a buyer opens a case)?

I'll be honest here, I would be offended by a seller sending me a message about that too. That's just assuming you're going to have dishonest buyers, and not just that, but making a point out of telling your honest buyers that if they try to cheat you (which they weren't even considering) that you have gone out of your way to record evidence that you will use against them. Which is just insulting. Not to mention useless for you.
I would strongly recommend you never send such a message to a buyer again.

Not sure I'd be offended because I'd figure it's a message the seller (mistakenly) routinely has in his/her listings. But, if I were the seller, I'd definitely take that out before listing anything else. To some people, it would sound accusatory. We want to retain buyers, not offend them, right?

@soh.maryl if it was just in the description of their listings, yeah, I'd laugh at it and not worry about it.
But it sounds like the OP sent the buyer a direct message on eBay after the sale stating those things. That's way over the top.

I'd respond with a short and simple comment along the lines of the following. And STOP with the passive-aggressive message that implies they're scammers! Remove it from any listings that still have it. (FWIW, buyers of books aren't usually the type of scammers you're assuming! Sheesh.
"Dear buyer,
Thank you for contacting me. I'm glad you were pleased with the books you ordered and received.
That's the only shipment I sent to you. I don't know anything about another batch of books you received but they weren't from me.
I'm sorry you were offended by my message implying a scam. I've considered it objectively and can now see that it's insulting to buyers. I shall remove it from my listings."

I just looked at some listings and it's NOT in the listings. @baybgrlus must send it in a message to buyers and in that case, I think the seller is darned lucky they didn't get a negative feedback from ANY of their buyers.
