I just got an email on all of my selling ids telling me that I have high returns..wth is this about!? One id has only had 2 returns, and both were closed by eBay because of no activity. It says in all of the emails I got that I had 4 returns, which is not true.
Did anybody else get this email? Did it say your returns are more than average too? This is silly!
eBay is encouraging everyone to accept 60 day returns and free returns, then they are telling people they need to cut down on them!?
I'm confused and annoyed by this...

Funny, I've asked this of at least 6 reps, and they all claimed that my return rate will have no affect on my visibility. I'm so sick of ebay reps and their lies. Does upper managment tell them to do this? I don't know which scenerio is worse.

CS reps are known for telling you anything to get you off the phone...who knows if you can trust emails from eBay though either...

Yep, I got the same HIGH RETURNS (1 return in 1 year, 0.69%) on both of my accounts.
Coincidence that they mention that my listings visibility can be restricted, then my sales screech to a halt for the weekend.
Ecommercebytes said they're hearing from a lot of sellers with same message too, so this must be a "Let's beat all the children..."
Not happy.

Or?
There's an Or?

Can you say how many total sales?
The consensus from sellers posting on the board seems to be that zero, 1, or 2 returns after years of selling is quite normal It looks like eBay shows you have 2.2% SNAD returns. Closed for lack of activity doesn't mean an item was not SNAD. Buyers often don't have packaging materials on hand, don't know the processes involved, and don't want to bother with it, especially for low-priced items.
I wonder if this has to do with weeding out sellers who have "too many returns" because eBay is picking up the tab on partial refunds (with a lot of requirements for sellers to qualify). SNAD returns is a valid area for eBay to look at, IMHO.

Yes, I got 1 out of 704 transactions.
As far as being seen on the site, so far it has been business as usual.
Hopefully this email is just an across the board notice to all Sellers while they are working out the kinks.

Ep - average ecommerce return rate on clothes is 30% - many of us maintain a 3% or less in this category. Many of these returns are due to buyers claiming SNAD rather than the correct reason where they have to pay return shipping. My one SNAD - which I won on Ebay - proving it was buyers remorse - is still categorized under SNAD.
These emails are ridiculous as I know many Big Box have 10 times the rate of return than many here. Is their visibility affected?

The interesting thing about this message is that they are showing you stats for only one category, even if you sell across multiple categories. They are also posting stats comparing a specific price range. The stats shown in my e-mail were a very narrow view compared to my overall stats.

I got the same message. I have 3 SNADs in the last 90 days. TWO of them were items broken in transit by the USPS, both of which I have been reimbursed for via Priority insurance. If Ebay is going to penalize SNADs by limiting search, then they best find out the WHOLE story on what happened.

Gotta love it when they coerce sellers into taking retunrs for any reason, no questions asked, then slap them for doing so.

If it is any consolation to you, buyer returns are reduced to a number and are also being tracked. If you see a buyer-only with the DSR for shipping charges, and it has a number of "sales" (that's the number of return requests) and 5 stars? Yep, that's a bad buyer in eBay's eyes -- aka me on one of my buying IDs...
I finally started returning SNADs rather than letting sellers get away with not sending what they advertised...and an INR that I filed on the 30th day and the seller came up with an old "undeliverable as addressed" USPS sticker and took a pic that showed only that old, worn-out sticker in his hand near a label with my name/addy on it...not even the entire padded envelope that would SURELY have USPS markings on it if he weren't lying (which I challenged him for but he ignored the request)...but tracking clearly shows he never mailed it. I haven't even logged in to see what eBay decided, and of course I'll just file with PayPal. That's a bad buyer right there.
I tell ya, the tricks people come up with to avoid owner their mess-ups is unreal!

Of course, when Return percentage first showed up on sellers' dashboards, we were assured that this statistic was to "help" us--make us aware, alert us to address any problems, etc. We were assured that return % was never going to be used as a measure of sellers' performance.
Now there are messages threatening "reduced visibility" if return % is too high?
I await with trepidation the Summer Seller Update.

That's todays' push for excellence. Most of us, if not all, got the same email.
Way down there on returns.....0.029%.

Ebay just can't stop picking on sellers. They just can't stop it.
